Ronaldo wins UCL goal of the season

The Real Madrid man's superb finish helped defeat Roma to seal a 2-0 victory that on the way to claiming their record eleventh European crown Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Season, presented by Nissan, for his stunning strike against Roma in March.


It arrived in the first knockout stage to set the Spanish giants on their way to a 2-0 victory in the Italian capital before their safe passage to the quarter-finals was secured with a victory by the same margin in the return at the Bernebeau.


Cutting inside from the left, the Ronaldo slammed an unstoppable shot that flew past Wojciech Szczesny and into the far corner at the Stadio Olimpico.


It was one of 16 goals the Portugal international hit in the 2015-16 campaign, leaving him just one shy of the UCL record return of 17 the 31-year-old hit in 2013-14 to lead Madrid to a long-awaited decima.


Nobody has outscored Ronaldo in the past four UEFA Champions League seasons.


Ronaldo beat out competition from a number of fabulous Nissasn UCL Goals of the week in the 2015-16 campaign, including special strikes Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
