Buhari leaves Forex traders guessing on path for Naira

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Sunday speech has left foreign-exchange traders with little clue as to the fate of the naira, reports Bloomberg.

It said far from clarifying the government’s approach on the currency, following central bank Governor Godwin Emefiele’s pledge last week to adopt a more flexible exchange-rate policy, Buhari’s words have left the market as confused as ever. While some, including Standard Chartered Plc, said a looming recession had forced Buhari to change tack and allow the naira to depreciate, others said the president — who once likened letting the currency weaken to “murder” — had signaled continued resistance to reducing its value, it noted.

“What Buhari was saying is that while he is committed to stability, he concedes that only a strong economy can have a strong exchange rate,” Razia Khan, the London-based Africa economist at Standard Chartered, told Bloomberg by phone on Monday.

“No one wants to see disruptive weakness for the sake of it — hence the commitment to stability — but that commitment does not rule out the adoption of a more flexible foreign-exchange regime.”

Emefiele said on May 25 a more flexible exchange-rate system would be unveiled “in the coming days,” sending naira forward contracts to record highs as traders anticipated a devaluation. Nigeria has held the naira at N197-N199 per dollar since March 2015, even as other oil exporters from Russia to Colombia and Malaysia let their currencies drop amid the slump in crude prices since mid-2014.

Foreign reserves dwindled as the central bank of Africa’s largest oil producer defended the peg, while foreign investors, fearing a devaluation, sold Nigerian stocks and bonds.

Buhari, who has opposed weakening the currency since coming to power, didn’t specifically refer to the central bank’s statement in a speech Sunday marking his first year in office. He said only that he would “keep a close look at how recent measures affect the naira and the economy,” while also saying devaluation in the past “had done dreadful harm.

Based on the president’s recent comments, it is clear he remains firmly opposed to the idea of a devaluation,” Cobus de Hart, an analyst at Paarl, South Africa-based NKC Independent Economists, said in an e-mailed response to questions Monday.

“Whether this implies that he may overturn the central bank’s decision to allow more flexibility in the interbank market remains to be seen, but what has become more clear is that, even if the CBN goes ahead and introduces some sort of new foreign-exchange arrangement for the interbank market, it will likely not be a fully flexible regime.” Nigeria’s economy — Africa’s largest — is headed for a recession, Emefiele said last week as the central bank left its policy rate on hold. Gross domestic product fell by about 0.4 percent in the three months through March from a year earlier — the first quarterly contraction since 2004 — as oil output slumped amid militant attacks on pipelines and as the central bank’s foreign-exchange restrictions led to shortages of imported goods, including fuel.

“We cannot get away from the fact that a strong currency is predicated on a strong economy,” Buhari said. “The measures we must take, may lead to hardships.” The floundering economy left the central bank — and Buhari — no choice but to let the currency weaken, said Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer at Financial Derivatives Co. in Lagos, the commercial capital. “Nigeria has been compelled to make a currency adjustment because of market forces and the deteriorating state of the economy,” Rewane said by phone on Sunday. “The anti-devaluation lobby has succumbed to the reality of the day.” Emefiele said last week the central bank would allow the currency to trade at a market-related level on the interbank platform while continuing to allocate dollars at a fixed rate to strategic industries.

Buhari’s comments “raise concern in relation to what proportion of trade will be shifted to the interbank market, assuming the CBN’s decision is not overturned completely,” De Hart at NKC said. Calls to Buhari’s spokesmen seeking comment went unanswered.

“The genie is out of the bottle,” Magnus Kpakol, a director at Abuja-based consultancy Economic and Business Strategies, said by phone on Monday. “They will have to do the right thing and introduce some kind of flexibility.

What killed Abacha Is Exactly What killed MKO Abiola – Al-Mustapha Reveals

Hamza Al-Mustapha, chief security officer to Sani Abacha, the late military dictator, has said that he would soon reveal the details of what killed Abacha and MKO Abiola, self-acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 election.

Al-Mustapha at a press conference in Lagos on Monday stated that accurate information would be revealed in his memoirs, which is not yet out.

Abacha died on June 8, 1998, while Abiola died exactly a day to the first month anniversary of the dictator’s death. Al-Mustapha said: “What killed Abacha is exactly what killed MKO Abiola. But I would reveal that after my court case, still at the Supreme Court. I would publish a book which has three volumes- the Mustapha’s Memoirs, which will tell what happened under Abacha and how he died”.

The retired colonel, who regained freedom three years ago after spending 12 years in detention over the death of Kudirat, Abiola’s wife, said he was innocent of the charges filed against him.

Mustapha said he had not recovered from the trauma of detention and torture, narrating what he went through during that dark period of his life.

“I am just recuperating from what I went through. I went through punishment and torture. I was in chains. I was not allowed to see a doctor, family and lawyer. There was no light in my cell. I only wore my singlet, which was full of blood. You sighted food and you are denied. I was treated like an animal.” He described Abacha as an honest man, saying those his boss offended while in power were behind reports of the loots allegedly traced to the late dictator.

Al-Mustapha also denied the allegation that he assisted Abacha to stash money in foreign accounts.

“The proper facts about the Abacha loot are not known. Where was the money from? What was it meant for? How was it taken out? Who kept the money there? Abacha was not leaving Nigeria at a later time. His journeys were within Africa because the toes he had stepped upon were bent on removing him,” he said.

“In November 1998, I told the government to prosecute me, if I have any bank account than my salary account with the Bank of the North.”

This angered the YBNL CEO and he exited immediately seeing the futile attempts by the security officials on stage to keep students at bay.

Lionel Messi & His Dad Appears In Court Over ‘Tax Fraud’ In Barcelona

Barcelona’s five-times soccer World Player of the Year Lionel Messi went on trial on Tuesday along with his father on accusations of defrauding the Spanish state of millions of euros (dollars).

Argentinian-born striker Messi and his father Jorge Horacio Messi, who have both denied the allegations, were due to appear in the Barcelona court on Thursday, according to a judicial document.

A previous court ruled that Messi, 28, could have known about and approved the creation of a web of shell companies allegedly used to evade taxes on income from image rights. Spain’s tax office accused both men in 2013 of defrauding the government of 4.2 million euros ($4.67 million) between 2007 and 2009.

According to the prosecutor’s office, which has proposed jail terms of up to 22 months, revenue was hidden using shell companies in Uruguay, Belize, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Messi and his father paid five million euros to the tax authorities as a “corrective” measure after being formally investigated in June 2013.

Messi has been resident in Barcelona since 2000 and has had Spanish citizenship since 2005.

($1 = 0.8988 euros)

Naira Crashes To ₦285/$1 At Interbank Market

Despite the Central Bank of Nigeria yet to roll out the details of the new flexible exchange rate policy, which is a monetary system that allows the exchange rate to be determined by supply and demand, the nation’s currency naira has switched to N285 to a dollar at the interbank market, The Guardian reports.

The policy, which throws naira into open market, paves way for one to walk into the bank and ask to buy forex at the market rate, hence, putting pressure on black market and Bureau de Change operators.

The new policy also means that banks and Bureau De Change (BDC) operators will have to source forex autonomously and sell according to market dynamics.

The interbank rate had run nearly at par with the official at N199 per dollar and N197 per dollar respectively before the pronouncements on the new foreign exchange measure.

The new rate represents about 43.2% increase from N199 to the dollar it previously traded, which according to analysts suggests that the market is gradually adjusting itself to the new direction, although the details are yet to be unfolded.

However, a look on the apex bank official website, www.cbn.gov.ng has shown the naira is still pegged at N197.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has given the CBN the go-ahead to introduce flexibility in the naira exchange rate.

Speaking in an interview on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant on media and publicity to President Buhari said: “The president is opposed to devaluing the naira, he has said so repeatedly. “He has given them leeway to introduce what he has called ‘flexibility in managing’ the currency’s value.” Buhari said at the weekend that he supported a stable currency, though he would keep “a close look at how recent measures affect the naira and the economy.” More details later.

Nigeria, eight nations to revive Niger Basin with $6.4m

The nine member-states of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), Nigeria, Cameroun, Guinea, Mali Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Chad, are to commit $6.44 million towards reviving the Basin and improving the lot of the people living there in.

The funds are to also facilitate access to hydro-power and boost agricultural production in the region.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the Council of Ministers meeting yesterday in Abuja, decried the deteriorating state of the basin hugely spurred by the combined effects of climate and human activities.

“This phenomenon is heavily compromising the future of the ever increasing population of the Niger Basin through the intensity and number of environmental, social and economic problems it is inducing,” he said.

While expressing concerns at the security situation within the basin and the entire West and Central African region, Buhari noted that the implementation of the Operational Plan NBA would provide job opportunities for the youths in the areas of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and conservation of the basin’s natural resources.

He said by so doing, the institution would contribute to the fight against idleness and lack of future prospects for the youths which could lure them into extremism as observed over the years.

Represented by the Minister of Environment, Hajiya Amina Muhammed, the President said the investment outlay was developed with the active participation of representatives of all member- countries for select 350 investment and capacity building actions for the benefit of countries and the basin’s secretariat.

In his remarks, the Chairman of NBA Council of Ministers and Nigeria’s Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, stressed the need for member- countries to contribute at least 10 per cent for the funding of the operational plan, adding that a new sharing formula had been formulated.

Recall that the Basin was established in November 1980 to “promote cooperation between member-countries and ensure an integrated development of the Niger Basin in the areas of hydraulics, energy, agriculture, livestock, fisheries as well as fish farming, forestry and logging.

Banks To suspend cross border transactions on ATM cards - EFFC

Banks may have decided to suspend international transactions on Naira and Dollar denominated ATM cards in protest of harassment of staff by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Indications to this emerged last week, when a bank announced a temporary shutdown of Mastercard International transactions.

“Please be informed that all international transactions on your MasterCard Naira and Dollar (Debit, Prepaid) will be temporarily declined, effective May 26, 2016 due to the current volatility in the foreign exchange market.

“However, your Naira denominated cards can still be used for local transactions on PoS Terminal, ATM and online for Nigerian retailers”, the bank informed its customers.

A bank executive who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the development was in connection to the harassment of bank staff over the exchange rate charged for international transactions on naira debit cards.

He said that the bank’s decision to shut down Mastercard international transactions was to prevent arrest or further arrests of its staff by EFCC. “That is what you get when you have the EFCC arresting banks’ staff and the CBN not doing anything to defend the banks,” he said, adding that, “You will see more of such actions from other banks as time goes on.” In a letter written to the CBN last month, banks complained that, EFCC has been going to banks and arresting staff of banks stating that card rate for cross border transactions should not be more than the CBN rate plus a margin of N0.50 Titled, “Harassment of banks by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission over charges on FX Card Rates,” the letter stated, “As you will recall sir, the Central Bank of Nigeria does not sell foreign exchange (FX) to banks for settlement of international cards schemes for the cross border spend on our Naira debit card, most banks have had to be sourcing FX from autonomous markets.

At several meetings of the CBN with Deposit Money Banks, it was reiterated that we need to protect the scarce FX of the country and limits were placed on cross border spend of naira debit ($300/ day for ATM withdrawal and a total of N50,000 p.a for ATM and PoS purchase per card). One the measures adopted by banks to discourage the abuse of usage was the card rate as most banks PTA/BTA at the CBN rate.

Any customer of a bank travelling with appropriate document can access the PTA window at $4,000 per quarter. Deposit Money Banks set the card rates based on a daily market competitor scan, thereby leaving market forces to dictate what the banks can charge their customers.

“As the sole regulator of banking practice in Nigeria, we hereby request the CBN to urgently take steps to clarify to the EFCC that the banks have been allowed to offer the product solely on a market determined basis. This has become unavoidable in order to forestall further harassment by the EFCC”.

EFCC Recovers Another N900m From Jonathan’s Brother

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered N900million from Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

A reliable source at the EFCC told disclosed on Sunday that the money was found in one of Dudafa’s accounts, which was immediately frozen.

The source said, “Dudafa told us that he had no money; so, we began to investigate his accounts. We then found N900m that was hidden in one of his accounts through the connivance of his account officer. “Dudafa initially denied owning the account but when he was confronted with evidence, he had no choice but to admit. Some people, who had paid money into the account based on Dudafa’s instructions, even came forward to say that the account indeed belonged to Dudafa. The N900m will be used as evidence against him in court.” Dudafa, a close aide and kinsman of Jonathan, was arrested on April 18 at the Murtala Airport in Lagos. The former presidential aide, alongside Jonathan’s ex Aide-de-Camp, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, was accused of sharing as much as N10bn to delegates at the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party in December 2014, in which Jonathan was the only candidate. The money was allegedly diverted by the Office of the NSA from a Signature Bonus Account in CBN.

The N10bn is believed to have been diverted from oil receipts as follows: $5m (November 14, 2014); $47m (November 27, 2014); €4m (December 3, 2014) and €1.6m (December 24, 2014). Dudafa was said to have fled to either Dubai where he stayed for several months. He was later arrested by the SSS on arrival and the EFCC is set for his prosecution.

Real Madrid Wins The 2016 Champions League Final After Penalty Shootout With Athletico Madrid

Real Madrid once again recorded the ultimate bragging rights at the expense of neighbours Atletico as they secured a record 11th Champions League triumph on penalties after a fiery final at the San Siro.

Cristiano Ronaldo lashed home the winning kick from the spot to make it 5-3 to Los Blancos after the match had finished 1-1 with neither side able to find the net in extra time.

It caps a fairytale conclusion to a first season at the helm for Zinedine Zidane after he replaced Rafael Benitez in the dugout in January.

The French icon becomes the seventh man to win the cup both as a player and as a manager.

Atletico had seen their hopes of a maiden success in Europe’s premier competition deflated by their arch rival in Lisbon two years ago and it was a case of deja vu in more ways than one as Diego Simeone’s men came up agonisingly short on the night.

Lagos Governor Ambode Emerges "Governor Of The Year"

Please, governance is not by going to mama put joints. That is something you do during campaign to at least familiarize with the people. But once you get their mandate, you are expected to work for them. Simple! Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has been judged to be Nigeria's 2015/2016 Governor of the Year based on a comparative analysis of Governors’ performance in Nigeria. This is according to a study conducted by the Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies, CIAPS.

The study tagged CIAPS Governors’ Performance Index (CGPI) is a monthly performance review of what the Governors across the country are doing in their offices. In a statement released by the Centre, the CGPI coordinator, Mr Olumuyiwa Ayoola explained that the variables used as indexes for performance were mathematically calculated and this end of the year’s variables included “Payment of Salary, Infrastructure & Health, Education, Security and Business Opportunity and Employment”.

According to Mr Olumuyiwa Ayoola, the action of each state governor was monitored and studied from their first day in office and the findings were graded and compared to that of fellow governors across the country.

Over the past year, CGPI results show that Kaduna state performed more than any other state to create jobs and encourage business investments. Lagos state has done more than anyone other State for security and infrastructure.

Sokoto, Kaduna and Imo States were commended for their efforts on education. The Governors of Adamawa and Bayelsa States continue to remain at the bottom of the list as all finished in the bottom places with not more than a score of 39%. Commenting on the CGPI report, CIAPS Centre Director and CGPI Chair, Prof Anthony Kila stated that the “CGPI is a useful tool for democracy and good governance as it allows government to be objectively measured against their peers and compels all in power to be mindful of accountability”. The variables used for measuring Governors performance this month after one year in office factors the limited powers of State Governors as well as what they can do.

Kila further explained that he hopes that the CGPI monthly reports will allow governors to sit up, improve their performances during their tenure and even enter into healthy competition between themselves for the benefit of their states and the country as a whole. He advised Governors rated as poor to roll up their sleeves and improve governance rather than enter into a media war or words with observers.

At Last! EFCC Officially Receives A Petition Against Jonathan

You guys should not expected Jonathan back home soon; the coast is just not clear to make an entry...

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally received a petition asking the agency to probe ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on the alleged mismanagement of Billions of Dollars that was released to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for arms purchase.

The petition is also requesting the EFCC to invite Jonathan for interrogation on why he made N400m public funds available to a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, for personal and private party use.

Details of the first petition the EFCC will formally receive demanding the investigation of Jonathan. According to findings, the petition dated May 24, 2016 came from a former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Ikenna Ejezie, through his counsel, Barrister Osuagwu Ugochukwu. Both President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami, were copied the petition.

The petition reads: “We are solicitors to Hon. Ikenna Ejezie hereinafter called our client and with you as he has instructed. “Our client is requesting you to, in the public interest, invite ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for questioning and possible prosecution over his role in the misuse of $2.1billion through the Office of the National Security Adviser (Col. Sambo Dasuki rtd) and disbursement of N400million funds to Olisa Metuh for personal and private political party use.

“Our client notes that Dasuki had stated severally whilst in your commission that the $2.1b was authorized for disbursement by ex-Pres Jonathan for arms purchase, but later turned out to be for selfish purpose.

"Olisa Metuh also had admitted that former President Jonathan transferred and/or authorized release of N400m public funds to his account for political campaign of Jonathan rather than for public interest. “Our client informed us that the confession of Olisa Metuh is contained in his criminal statement with the EFCC. Our client is thus shocked that in spite of the implication of ex-President Jonathan in the current prosecution of Metuh and Dasuki, the former President has not been invited for his statement to be taken nor has he been prosecuted by the EFCC as co-accused/defendant. “Our client herewith requests that the ex-President be invited for questioning and to commence prosecution as he was the one who did authorize the disbursement of the $2.1billion and N400million public funds that were illegally abused and misappropriated by Dasuki and Metuh who are both standing trial in various courts in Abuja.

“Our client demands that this request be responded to within seven days from the receipt of this letter and as quickly as possible.”

Nobody Can Arrest Goodluck Jonathan - Ijaw YouthsTell Buhari

The Ijaw Youths Congress has dared the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government not to contemplate the arrest of former President Goodluck Jonathan over the ongoing probe of massive fraud and embezzlement alleged to have taken place under his watch.

The youths, who converged at Wellington Hotel Effurrun, Delta State, for the 2016 annual Major Isaac Boro anniversary celebration with the theme, “The ideals of Adaka Boro and the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta: The way forward,” criticised the present administration for limiting its anti-corruption campaign only to the Jonathan regime.

The IYC president, Udengs Eradiri, said APC-led Government should probe the Halliburton bribery case under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, if it indeed want Nigerians to take its anti-corruption campaign seriously.

On the renewed militancy in the region, Eradiri said the opening of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State, for academic activities was the first condition for a roundtable discussion with the Federal Government towards ending ongoing militants’ onslaught in the region. Eradiri said, “People have started discussing. There was a meeting in Abuja yesterday (Wednesday) but I told them that such a meeting would not work.

“If they want us to talk, they must first open the Maritime University and start admitting students, then we would now sit and talk. The same issues for which Adaka Boro and Ken Saro-Wiwa were killed are the same issues the Avengers are raising. “There are no Avengers anywhere. Settle these issues and the avengers would fizzle away.”

So once Maritime University in Tompolo's village opens, there'll be peace in Niger Delta? Interesting.

Read the statement sent out by friends of the battered husband and wife: "The Igbo residents of Magbo, Obada Zone 5 Community of Fortune Estate in Agbara, Lagos has cried out and sent a save our soul [SOS] message to the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase in a matter of urgency to set up a panel of inquiry into the recent Brutalization of a Member of their community, Mr. Chukwuka Paul by the Men of the Nigeria Police force Area K.

They pounced on Mr. Paul and his wife, beating them to Coma and went further to take him into custody for about 72 hour without concrete Evidence against the gentleman and his family.

It was gathered that on Thursday 19th May 2016, about 8 heavily armed men storm the residence of Paul Chukwuka where he also has his house finishing material store, ordered him to enter their vehicle. While he was trying to know why such arrest is for him, they pounce on him as if they had an Order to brutalized him, he was handcuffed beaten and while his wife Ebele Paul and their little child were shouting for help from the Neighbors, his wife too was beaten and stripped in the presence of sympathizers.

He was taking to Area K command where he was detained for over 72 hours, beaten severally with different wound scattered all over his body, he was later released on bail.

In our attempt to Investigate the cause of such Magnitude of brutality in this modern democratic world, some media Houses visited Obada zone 5 to hear from some eyewitnesses.

The first call point was with the chairman of the Igbo community in Obada and it Patron. Mr. Samuel Egwu and Alex Nwagwu respectively.

Speaking with the media, the president Obada zone 5 Igbo Community, Samuel Egwu lamented the unprofessional conduct of the men of the police force from Area K command on how they carried out the arrest of Mr Paul a member of his community.

Hear him, 'Yes I gathered that there was a transaction between Paul and this woman in question, Paul sold a bed to that woman and after 3 years the woman refuses to pay back and you know that in business no company gives three year guaranty, so I learnt that Mr. Paul asked for his money and the woman went straight to Area K to lay allegation that Mr. Paul beat her, the police just went to his place pounce on the gentle man, beat him together with his wife and child.

'Please I ask, is it proper without asking about the genesis of the disagreement between the two of them? Look, before now we believe police is our friend but now it is clear that they are our enemies, you just act on one side of a story and start to brutalize an innocent soul, we want to use this opportunity to call on the inspector general of police Solomon Arase to please in a matter of urgency set up a panel to know what really happened before his men kill all of us in this community.

'I am really disappointed in Nigeria police. I will also want to call on our amiable governor to come to the aid of our community in terms of road and drainage because when its rain our children are always indoors because the flood is always too much,' he concluded. Also speaking in the same vein, the patron of Igbo community Obada fortune estate Alex nwagwu lambasted the Nigeria police for their action in the area, he said for men of the police force to handle a very sensitive case like that, then some of their men lack professionalism. 'If you have some of those men as your friends then you don’t have friends because they do not have regards for humans.

Look, people are always afraid to see the police, I have travel wide and far, I do ask some of them if they actually go for training before they were employed. I think the police IG need to know the kind of people the force should engage, I think the IG need to call them to other, because they are tarnishing the image of Nigeria to our foreign visitors'.

Trouble: Niger Delta Militants Carry Out More Attacks

These guys want to cripple operations. Chevron’s operations came under threat after yet another attack on its facility on Thursday at the Abiteye line in Warri South-West council area of Delta State. Members of a militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), destroyed a major crude oil facility, grounding Chevron’s swamp operations in the state. The Avengers, in a tweet, claimed responsibility for the attack, which is bound to alter oil production and, in effect, Nigeria’s revenue.

The oil facilities were bombed while Chevron was trying to repair the main Escravos crude line.

Reuters quoted sources as saying that the company’s onshore operations in the Niger Delta had been shut down following the attack, which involved the main electricity line leading to its Escravos terminal.

“It is a crude line, which means all activities in Chevron are grounded,” the source told Reuters.

The group is now issuing threats, warning that no one, either Chevron of Nigerian government should make any move to repair the facility until their demands are fully met. Just imagine! Sources say President Buhari is very sad but still trying to take it easy because some people in the Niger Delta are waiting for the Nigerian Army to react, so they will accuse Buhari of killing their people.

First is, most of the men who have made huge money before marriage will not respect your opinions about their way of life. Second thing is, a struggling man with real vision is better, much better and far better than that rich man today without vision.

It is this craze to marry a man who has "money" that is leading to the many marital crises and divorces you see everywhere. Ladies, your real focus in marriage should be DESTINY not money.

Over 85% of rich men in their 50s and above got married as 'nobody'. As a lady, your focus should not be to get married for the purpose of enjoying money, rather you should pair up with a man who can build a life with you so that, in the long run, you and your husband and your kids will live your dreams.

Drop the "instant gratification" mentality, it has led many astray and still destroying many. Be guided!

Husband shoots Doctor who delivered His Wife's baby because he saw her naked

Since the husband don't want another man (a male doctor) to see his wife's body, he should have taken her to one of those 'mama' who delivers women at home and be ready for any fall out. Sigh! Police have arrested a man after he shot a male doctor shortly after he helped deliver his wife’s baby.

Te husband was angry that the hospital had allowed a male doctor to attend to his wife during birth. The crazy husband is believed to have wanted a female doctor to deliver the baby and was upset that the male doctor identified as Muhannad al-Zabn, would have seen his wife without clothes.

The baby was born in April at King Fahad Medical City in Saudi city of Riyadh, according to Gulf News. But after the birth, the man reportedly travelled to the hospital and contacted Dr al-Zabn for a quick chat. The man said he wanted to thank Dr al-Zabn for delivering his wife's baby without any major complications.

After meeting in the hospital's garden, the man reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot Dr al-Zabn. Following the attack, the father ran from the scene but was later tracked down and arrested by Saudi police.

Dr al-Zabn was taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit and is now in a stable condition, recuperating.

Fayose Under Fire; Ekiti Workers On Strike Blast Him

Government business and academic activities in public schools were paralysed as civil servants and teachers in Ekiti State began an indefinite strike on Thursday to protest the non-payment of five-month arrears of salaries and deductions. This followed the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the state councils of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC).

State chairmen – Ade Adesanmi (NLC); Odunayo Adesoye (TUC) and Oladele Blessing (JNC)- noted that they had no option than to strike “having displayed uncommon understanding over the financial position of the state” and endured with Governor Ayo Fayose.

The state secretariat housing Ministries, Departments and Agencies, new Governor’s Office, old Governor’s Office, the High Court complex, House of Assembly complex and all public schools were deserted. The unions in a May 23 letter to Governor Ayo Fayose said the non-payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and deductions have inflicted hardship on workers and retirees. The workers accused Fayose of lack of accountability and insincerity on the state’s actual wage bill. They also accused the governor of not being transparent on the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). They said: “Government made us believed that over N500million will be saved monthly from the screening exercise of April 2015. But for over a year, the report of the screening exercise has not been made public.

“The monthly wage bill of N2.6 billion as put up by the government is not acceptable to us.

Cristiano Ronaldo declares himself fit for Champions League final

Cristiano Ronaldo has reassured Real Madridfans he will be fit to play in Saturday'sChampions Leaguefinal against Atletico Madrid in Milan after limping out of Tuesday's training session.

Ronaldo failed to complete training for the third session in a row, leaving the pitch with a thigh problem following a clash with Real goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

"It was a minor scare, a knock, but in a few days' time I will be well," the Portuguese forward told reporters. The 31-year-old missed the first leg of Real's semi-final against Manchester City with a thigh injury but thinks he is in better physical condition than he was before the final two years today. "I believe I'm in better shape," he said. "I've had a slight problem but it's normal as I have been the most used player in the team.

"I think this is the season where I have played the most minutes. Besides the problem of today's training session, I believe I'm at my best level." Real's goalscoring machine is just one victory away from clinching his third European crown.

Ronaldo is one goal short of matching his own record of 17 in the competition set in the 2013-14 campaign when the team lifted the European Cup for the 10th time.

"I would love to equal or even surpass that record,"Ronaldo said. "But it is not an obsession. The record is mine whether I score or not in the final. The important thing is that we win." Ronaldo is the all-time leading scorer in Europe's elite club competition with 93 goals, 78 for Real.

The former Manchester United player netted the last goal in the final in Lisbon two years ago when Real defeated Atletico 4-1 after extra-time. Ronaldo has amassed 51 goals in 47 games in all competitions this season but none against Atletico.

"I'm focused," he said. "This is the game of our lives. "The best two teams are in the final. I believe we are better but we have to play a good game. I think we will win and lift the European Cup again on Saturday."

CDQ Dumps Teebillz As His Manager

CDQ signed on to Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz's 323 Entertainment management group back in January 2016.

In a new interview with Hip TV, CDQ confirms that he has now parted ways with his manager Teebillz - when he could no longer reach him. He said, "About me and Teebillz, I mean, Me and Teebillz are still good. Still cool, we are family.. But I'm straight like that, I am real. I have not been able to talk to him for a very long time - since the incident that happened. I tried to message him but it wasn't going through and everything.

So i had to move on with my life.. You know. I mean, I've got ambition that I'm chasing, so for no reason would i allow anything to lock that down. I am a goal getter and I can't allow anything to slow me down. So that's it! Me and Teebillz are still cool, we are still family.

Anytime we see, we would still holla, but at least, I'm a street guy, I have got to move, gotta move, gotta move. That is what matters the most.

My career comes first before anything else.

Exclusive: Lil Kesh Finally Reveals why he left YBNL, clears

Popular Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Lil Kesh having dropped his supposed first single Lyrically, which was immediately accepted by music lovers both home and abroad, was officially shot into limelight with his song Shoki. Born Keshinro Ololade, the 22-year old singer few weeks back dropped his debut record label YBNL for his own label, YAGI in an interview with NAIJ, speaks on why he left YBNL, his current relationship with Olamide, his next project and clears the air on Adekunle Gold’s exist form YBNL. Read excerpts of his interview below: Why choice of YAGI as the label name?

I picked the name because YAGI is the name of my debut album which mean ‘Young and getting it’ (YAGI) and it is like me because everybody knows that is my new logo. I am 22 and I am doing well for myself. Even with the name the album talks basically about me; I am just starting off and I am learning at the same time, I am getting it. I stand for YAGI and YAGI stands for me.

You left YBNL at the time when your career is growing, don’t you think that will affect your career and stand in the industry?

I am still very much around in the industry and good stuff is still going to come out from my stable and YBNL; the fact that I am floating my own label does not matter and does equally means I am no longer under YBNL because that is where a lot of people are getting it wrong. Olamide and YBNL movement is still managing me as an artiste and the fact that I have my own label simply means that YAGI records is been managed by YBNL. We are still together; I and Olamide still record in the same studio and work with same set of producers. As you all know that YBNL is a family thing and we all support each other. How is the new label doing? Like we all know that with YBNL, I had a two year contract which ended some few weeks back and the rightful thoughts of Olamide from time is that his prayer stands firm on all his label artistes that after two years, all artistes he signed will not consider signing into another record label but rather they should be able to stand on their own and try and help other people just like he believed in me as well.

Was Olamide in the known that you were going to float your own label?

Off course he was aware because we have discussed about it before my contract ended that I was going to float my own label which he is in total support of as I know I got his back always. According to speculations, is Adekunle Gold also on your YAGI label?

Ah My brother Gold is still under YBNL but most people got it wrong because he designed the label logo and my album art work. Adekunle Gold has always been supportive of my label from day one as well as other people on the YBNL label. For YAGI records, I am the only artiste on it; come to think of it where do people want me to see money from to sign Adekunle Gold; my bro is expensive just like all is songs are of good qualities. Your song ‘Life of a star’ featuring Adekunle Gold what informed it and the lyrical contents?

My life basically from me not been famous to me been famous which include the stages and experiences that comes with life, trying to adjust to a live of walking peacefully on the street and people not disturbing you but now you are restricted to what you can do and what you can say online. For me that change was quite difficult because many don’t know how freely I do my things back then before the fame came in. Basically, my album is a reflection of my past, present and probably the future as the case maybe. Life of a star came as a reflection of all I have been through, I was actually mediating when the song vibe came in; so I called Pheelz the producer that I was ready and that Adekunle Gold will be dropping few lines too. The funniest part is that I and Adekunle went for a show together in Abeokuta and travelled down to Lagos the following morning where both lodged in a hotel due to fuel scarcity then and we had all the recording tools available and Adekunle did his verse, went back to sleep, woke and continue and at the end of the day, the song came out nice. With your first album doing quite well, what is next for you? I thank God for that and I am not relenting neither am I resting; next for me now is shooting videos off the YAGI album; mores singles and better work ahead, planning tours across the continent and focusing on how to make my own label stand too. What usually informs your choice of words? like I said, I get my words from whatever I hear and what comes out of my thoughtful thinking; I equally use my instinct to record.

The Boy Who Killed Mother & Daughter Has Been Re-Arrested

A murder suspect, Gift Edosomwan, who escaped from the Edo state Remand Home at Ugbekun in Benin, has been re-arrested along with an accomplice. He was nabbed around 12noon on Monday. Edosomwan was earlier arrested for allegedly killing a 28-year-old woman, Mrs. Itohan Enagbare, and her 3-year-old daughter, Iwinosa, but reportedly escaped from the juvenile home last Saturday. The suspect and others at large had on December 9, 2015, allegedly murdered the victims at their residence on Osaze Street, in the Ikpoba area of the state. The teenager, who was living with the landlady of the house, had been arraigned before a Magistrates' Court but was remanded pending the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. It was, however, learnt that he had yet to be brought before a court of competent jurisdiction, nearly 4 months after he was remanded at the juvenile home on January 25, 2016. According to Punch sources, Edosomwan and other suspect escaped when he and other inmates were brought out of their rooms to observe a morning routine. The management of the facility immediately begun a manhunt for the suspects, but “As they were being chased, they started shouting that they were being chased by cultists in order to cause a distraction. “But Edosomwan was later apprehended at the house where he allegedly committed the crime while his accomplice was caught on the way.” The murder suspect was said to have attempted to escape through the ceiling of one of the rooms, but was overpowered by the men, who took him back to the remand home. “Some residents of the area called to say he was inside the house. They even said he was a threat in the area,” the source added.

Reason Why Tomatoes Are Very Expensive: 80% of Kaduna Tomatoes Ravaged By Disease

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai on Monday revealed that 80 percent of the tomato produced in the state had been ravaged by pests and diseases, leading to serious scarcity. Specifically, the governor declared a state of emergency in tomato production in the state, saying all hands must be on deck to combat various pests and diseases ravaging tomato. A species of moth attacks the leaves of tomato to cause a disease condition called ‘Tuta Absoluta’. The larva produced by the moth feed voraciously upon tomato plants, causing a yield loss of 100%. El-Rufai said tomato had been destroyed in three local government of the state with a loss of N1bn monthly. The governor spoke through his Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Manzo Maigari. He said some officials of the state ministry of agriculture had been sent to Kenya in order to learn how to combat the menace, adding that over 200 farmers had lost tomato produce to pests and diseases. “I want to say that Governor Nasir el-Rufai has declared a state of emergency in tomato production in the state. This is as a result of the invasion of the crop by a pest botanically known as ‘Tuta Absoluta’. “It is so severe that even Dangote, who has established a tomato processing plant in Kano, had to shut down production [temporarily]," he added.

According to MTO, Drake & Rihanna are engaged and he proposed with a $1m ring

Lol...MediaTakeOut and their tall tales...albeit interesting! Now, they are reporting that Rihanna and Drake are engaged and Drake proposed to her with a $1million ring. Really? Lol. The rumour started because Rihanna stepped out in that ring at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Read the report below " MediaTakeOut just learned that Rihanna and rapper Drake are engaged – or at least that’s what they’re trying to get us to believe. We spoke with our ultra super reliable Rihanna insider who tells us that Drake gave Rihanna a $1million 16 Carat diamond ring – which she wore to last night’s Billboard Music Awards. And while we can’t say for 100% certain whether the ring is meant to be an engagement ring, we’re told that Rihanna and Drake are NO LONGER just casually dating. The insider explained, “Drake is Robyn’s man. He’s not with anyone else, and neither is she.” Check out the below pic: If you recall, Rihanna and Drake were hot and heavy back in 2014. Drake followed Rihanna to London, and the two were caught kicking a man out a public restaurant bathroom for a little privacy time. More importantly, Drake gifted Rihanna at $42,000 yellow diamond ring back then. That one didn’t spell wedding bells. But this $1 million dollar stunner is certainly nothing less than a trip to the altar.

Our Story: VP Osinbajo's official position on New Fuel Price

Fellow Citizens: I have read the various observations about the fuel pricing regime and the attendant issues generated. All certainly have strong points. The most important issue of course is how to shield the poor from the worst effects of the policy. I will hopefully address that in another note. Permit me an explanation of the policy. First, the real issue is not a removal of subsidy. At $40 a barrel there isn't much of a subsidy to remove.

In any event, the President is probably one of the most convinced pro-subsidy advocates. What happened is as follows: our local consumption of fuel is almost entirely imported. The NNPC exchanges crude from its joint venture share to provide about 50% of local fuel consumption. The remaining 50% is imported by major and independent marketers.

These marketers up until three months ago sourced their foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria at the official rate.

However, since late last year, independent marketers have brought in little or no fuel because they have been unable to get foreign exchange from the CBN. The CBN simply did not have enough. (In April, oil earnings dipped to $550 million. The amount required for fuel importation alone is about $225million!) .

Meanwhile, NNPC tried to cover the 50% shortfall by dedicating more export crude for domestic consumption. Besides the short term depletion of the Federation Account, which is where the FG and States are paid from, and further cash-call debts pilling up, NNPC also lacked the capacity to distribute 100% of local consumption around the country. Previously, they were responsible for only about 50%.

(Partly the reason for the lingering scarcity). We realised that we were left with only one option. This was to allow independent marketers and any Nigerian entity to source their own foreign exchange and import fuel. We expect that foreign exchange will be sourced at an average of about N285 to the dollar, (current interbank rate). They would then be restricted to selling at a price between N135 and N145 per litre.

We expect that with competition, more private refineries, and NNPC refineries working at full capacity, prices will drop considerably.

Our target is that by Q4 2018 we should be producing 70% of our fuel needs locally. At the moment even if all the refineries are working optimally they will produce just about 40% of our domestic fuel needs.

You will notice that I have not mentioned other details of the PPRA cost template. I wanted to focus on the cost component largely responsible for the substantial rise, namely foreign exchange.
