However, she does not know that Ochuole is actually being used by the Chief to perpetrate criminal activities especially drug trafficking. Madam Hoha’s hotel is the hideout for these criminal activities. Chief Ade Haladu-Amaka gives Aloho a package containing hard drugs to deliver in the United States of America. Ayo, a clerk in the office of Chief provides necessary documents to the police to unravel the crime after receiving a bribe. Ogeyi, Aloho’s friend seeks justice by reporting Chief to the police. Justice prevails in the end as all the corrupt characters are punished and made to pay for the crimes committed. ==================================== (8) Mrs Hardecastle is regarded as the matriach of the Hardecastle family in the play. she is the mother of tony who coddles her son, loves and overprotects him. she fails to tell her son that he is of age and eligible to 1500 pounds a year. she yearns to simple life in high society unlike her husband. according to the play, Mrs Hardcastle values material possessions and hopes to match her son(tony) with her niece(Constance Neville) in order to keep her niece’s is indeed very corrupt abd character provides some of the needed items for comedy in the play. from the play, it is seem that Mrs Hardcastle is partly selfish. she wants Neville to marry her son to keep the jewels in the family. she is certainly unaware of the fact that despise each other and that Neville is already in love with hastings and that ========================================= (9) In the poem, there is a conflict of cultures between the ancient native life and European imperialism.the cultures symbolically represented by piano and drums respectively.African culture is depicted as simple and natural. Though,it is characterized by mysteries which are understandable. It is unlike the European culture identified with modernity, sophisticated but complicated. African culture is portrayed as attractive for its innocence and simplicity.on the other hand, with phrases like”waiting”,”solo-speaking” and “tear-furrowed”. the impression is given that European culture has several shortcomings. However,we are told that it is “coaxing”as the music from the piano moves in different tonal directions, which suggest some form of attraction.for the poet,it is a culture difficult to understand. ==================================== (11) The poet’s attitude to nature in “birches is that of childhood refuge and problem-free medium. the poem is intensely philosophical in tone, nature and mood as it compares childhood, the period of innocence with childhood, the period of experience. while a child seems to enjoy a sheltered life, free from travails and complexities of the modern world, the adult is deeply enmeshed in the complications that are integral to modernity. The birch, as a tree, is a symbol of nature which represent an idyllic, utopian world, free and immune from the world’s problems. thus, like the romantic poets, frost seems to recommend nature as a means of achieving psychic wholeness after exposure to the myriad of problems that human beings face everyday. hence, nature is idolized a s a means of engaging in the quest for eternal fulfilment represented by heaven. First also stresses the idea that the art and act of redeeming the soul is personal and has to be done alone in an atmosphere of severity and peace.

Police arrest 60 year old woman for buying five babies at N5m

A 60-year-old woman, Asabi Adebayo, has been arrested by the police in Oyo State for allegedly buying five babies at N5million from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

The suspect, who planned to fly the babies abroad for sale, was said to have brought them to an orphanage in Ibadan to obtain a certified police report for them when the bubble burst.

Commissioner of Police Leye Oyebade, who paraded the suspect and the babies yesterday at the Eleyele Police Headquarters, said the woman would have escaped if not for the patriotic behavior of the officials of the orphanage, who reported the matter at the Iyaganku Police Station.

The suspect, who said she hailed from Lagos State, is also a British citizen.

The ages of the babies, (two boys and three girls) range from two years, eight months, seven months, six months and four months.

The babies have been taken to the Ministry of Women Affairs, Child Welfare; the suspect is assisting the police in their investigation. The police commissioner said officers, who accompanied the suspect to Port-Harcourt where she claimed to have bought the babies, have not been able to apprehend the sellers. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Iyaganku, Mr Ojopagogo, said: “ A woman, who operates an orphanage came to our station last Thursday and reported to us that a 60-year-old woman came to them that she had five children and that she needed police report for the children to be flown abroad . “Our detectives, led by a Superintendent of Police (SP) from the Juvenile Welfare Section, went to arrest the suspect.

Buhari Refuses To Sign 2016 Budget, Returns Document To National Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned the controversy-ridden 2016 budget to the National Assembly, pointing out areas of concern in the document and demanding adjustment. The spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Abdurazaq Namdas, (APC-Adamawa State) confirmed this to journalists on Thursday.

“I can confirm to you that we are in possession of the letter from the president identifying grey areas,” Mr. Namdas said.

He said the leadership of the House and that of the Senate as well as their respective relevant committees would meet on the development.

He, however, refused to mention the “grey areas” saying they would be made known to Nigerians in “due course”. The National Assembly passed the budget on March 2 and later transmitted it to Mr. Buhari for assent.

Apparently with the omission of certain projects and addition of others not proposed by the Executive, Mr. Buhari has since withheld his assent.

One of such projects is the Lagos-Calabar rail project counted as a critical infrastrucural focus of the administration.

It was not captured in the original budget but was brought as a supplementary proposal of the Transport Ministry by its Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, and was approved, Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport, Gbenga Ashafa, said.

However, the Appropriations Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives respectively chaired by Danjuma Goje and Abdulmumin Jibrin, removed the project from the final draft, saying Mr. Amaechi lacked the powers to make budgetary proposal.

Last week, while the Senate said Mr. Buhari should sign the budget and, later, send a supplementary proposal to capture the Lagos-Calabar rail project, the House said it had resolved to receive the budget to capture the project before assent.

Principals to Write Proficiency Examinations In Sokoto

The Sokoto State Government Wednesday said principals of government secondary schools in the state would soon write examinations to ascertain their proficiency.

The state Commissioner, Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Jabbi Kilgori, made this known at the opening of a three-day sensitisation workshop organised by the ministry in collaboration with the state chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), for Principal in the state.

He stated that incumbent principals must write the examinations to ascertain their proficiency and capabilities to manage the schools.

“Incumbent principals and anyone who will be appointed as principal must write such examinations to know whether they are fit to be appointed as so.

“Any of the existing principals who fails the examinations will be weeded out and redeployed back to the classrooms,’’ Kilgori said.

The commissioner pointed out that the principals will henceforth serve for a term of four years which is renewable only once for meritorious performance.

According to him, the state government had instituted a reward and punishment system for the principals to reward excellence, as well as reprimand indiscipline, respectively.

Kilgori stated that these were part of the measures introduced to ensure the successful implementation of the state of emergency on education already declared in the state. In a remark, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bashir Garba, said the state government had allocated about 28 per cent of its 2016 budget to education.

He emphasised that the move was part of the strategies evolved to revive education in the state.

Tambuwal underscored the need for principals to be disciplined, prudent, innovative and resourceful in managing their schools.

Capacity Building Key to Achieving 10,000mw By 2019 – Fashola

The ministerof power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, has stated that the target of 10,000 megawatts (mw) by 2019 will not be realised except skilled manpower needs are addressed in the sector.

Fashola, who emphasised that design, building of plant, its operation and maintenance, can only be carried out by key skilled manpower, underscored the role of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), in the realisation of the 10,000mw target.

Speaking during a ceremony for graduating trainees under the NAPTINS Graduate Skills Development Programme (NGSDP), the minister urged the trainees to brace up to this challenge by developing positive attitude that would enable them to be creative in solving the myriad of problems responsible for the lack of access to power by many Nigerians.

Represented by the permanent secretary, Power, Mr Louis Edozien, Fashola said that there will soon be executive actions on issues around renewable energy, coal, embedded generation and the need for a workable training policy for the NAPTIN.

He also informed that the governmentwas looking at the quest for making the NAPTIN a citadel of quality learning with its proposed post-graduate degree programmes.

Speaking earlier, the director-general of the NAPTIN, Mr Reuben Okeke, had requested the minister to help fast-track the plan to incorporate the training of lower cadre personnels, similar to the now rested National Power Apprenticeship Scheme (NAPSAS) in the sector, to complement the trained engineers that are primarily the focus of the institute.

(1a) General journal is the accounting version of our personal journals. It doesn’t record everything that happens to the business, of course, but it does record every financial transaction that takes place (sometimes alone, sometimes as a group of similar transactions). Like our personal journal entries, it notes the date, the accounts involved, and the amounts of money, as well as providing a brief description of what happened.

(4a) Depreciation is the measure of the wearing out, consumption or other loss of value of a fixed asset whether arising from use, effluxion of time or obsolescence through technology and market changes

(4b) (i) Physical deterioration (ii) Obsolescence (iii) The time factor (iv) Economic factor (v) Inadequacy

4c) (i) Straight line: This allows an equal amount to be charged as depreciation for each year of expected use of the asset. The basic formulae is Cost- Estimated residual value/ number of years of expected use. Advantages: (i)it is simple to calculate (ii)It is time oriented Disadvantages: (i)Assumption of equal or constant revenue per year is unrealistic (ii)Might lead to a misleading picture of the financial statement (4cii) Reducing balance: Under this method, the depreciation charged per annum is determined by applying a fixed rate of depreciation on the net book value of the asset at the beginning of each year.

Disadvantage of reducing balance: Difficulty in calculating the rate of depreciation

(4ciii) Revaluation: By this method, the asset is revalue each year, any difference will be charged as depreciation to the profit and loss account. The value of the asset at the beginning and end of the year must be known.

1a) One day while Moses was taking care of the sheep and goats of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, he led the flock across the desert and came to Sinai, the holy mountain. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him as a flame coming from the middle of a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire but that it was not burning up. “This is strange,” he thought. “Why isn’t the bush burning up? I will go closer and see.” When the LORD saw that Moses was coming closer, he called to him from the middle of the bush and said, “Moses! Moses!” He answered, “Yes, here I am.” God said, “Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” So Moses covered his face, because he was afraid to look at God. Then the LORD said, “I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings, and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile and in which the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites now live.

9a) According to peter, christians are expected to be subjected to every human institution and to civil authorities.God set up authorities to punish wrong doers and praise those who do the right things.By so doing, they would put to silence the ignorance of the foolish under the freedom of christ,They should honour all men, love their brothers, fear God and honour their leaders.

4a) This story relates how Hosea has three children, a son called Jezreel, a daughter Lo-Ruhamah and another son Lo-Ammi. All the names are described in the text as having symbolic meaning, reflecting the relationship between God and Israel . Jezreel is named after the valley of that name . Lo-Ruhamah is named to denote the ruined condition of the kingdom of Israel and Lo-Ammi is named in token of God’s rejection of his people. Although the latter two children are not specifically said to be Hosea’s, James Mays says that this is “hardly an implication” of Gomer’s adultery. In 3:1, however, it says that she is “loved by another man and is an adulteress”. Hosea is told to buy her back, and he does so for 15 shekels and a quantity of barley. Exodus 21:32 establishes the value of a maidservant at 30 shekels so Gomer’s value is diminished. She is not mentioned again in the book. Some analysts, following Felix Ernst Peiser, have suggested that this marriage is really a figurative or prophetic reference to a union between the ” lost tribes of Israel ” with the people of Gomer, following the Assyrian deportation. The relationship between Hosea and Gomer has been posited to be a parallel to the relationship between God and Israel. Even though Gomer runs away from Hosea and sleeps with another man, he loves her anyway and forgives her. Likewise, even though the people of Israel worshiped other gods, God continued to love them and did not abandon his covenant with them. According to Kirsten Abbott, feminist interpretation regards the story of Hosea and his relations with his wife Gomer as a metaphor for the conflict between a Covenant Theology (Israel violating the covenant relationship with YHWH) and a Creation Theology (YHWH will undo the fertility of the earth in response to Israel following other fertility gods). 4b) I-Love II-Faithfulness III-Fidelity IV-Endurance

Bayern draw enough to seal progress to semi final

The pair hit either side of half time to put Die Roten back in charge after Raul Jimenez had opened up the tie, and the Bavarians finally booked a last-four spot Bayern Munichhad Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller to thank as they fought to a 2-2 draw with Benfica, a result which was enough to send them through to the Champions League semi-final.

Vidal had scored the winner when the sides met in Munich last week and was on hand to cancel out Raul Jimenez's opener during the first half of a 2-2 draw in Lisbon on Wednesday.

Benfica soaked up sustained Bayern pressure in the early stages at Estadio da Luz, but broke the deadlock against the run of play through a Jimenez header. Vidal's powerful leveller provided Pep Guardiola's men with a healthy cushion to defend, leaving Benfica needing two goals by the end of 90 minutes to progress. Thomas Muller put the match to bed after the break, with his goal effectively ending home hopes of a maiden last-four appearance of the Champions League era. Talisca scored from a 76th-minute free-kick to reduce the deficit, but the damage had already been done, with Bayern now facing the possibility of a clash with Manchester City – Guardiola's future employers – in the last four. Bayern's first-leg advantage was almost wiped out within three minutes, when Joshua Kimmich conceded a soft free-kick in a dangerous position and Eliseu's low drive ran wide via a deflection off the wall. The visitors survived that early scare and started to exert some pressure, but struggled to test Ederson in the Benfica goal.

Muller turned wide from a Philipp Lahm cross after 19 minutes as Bayern continued to dominate possession, while David Alaba's skewed effort moments later only served to increase German frustrations.

Vidal failed to get enough power on his header from a lofted Thiago Alcantara ball into the box, with Ederson eventually able to gather, and Bayern were ultimately made to pay for their lack of final product by a great demonstration of vision from Eliseu.

The 32-year-old sent a high ball forward for the advancing Jimenez to head home, with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer uncharacteristically wayward in his attempts to punch clear.

Benfica could easily have been two up three minutes later, but Jimenez prodded straight at Neuer from the centre of the box. And Bayern punished that squandered opportunity when an unmarked Vidal rifled home on the half-volley from the edge of the box after Ederson had inadvertently parried a cross into his path.

Griezmann sends Barcelonal crashing out of Uefa Champions league

The France international netted a header and converted a late penalty to reverse last week's 2-1 defeat and send his side through to the semi-finals of the Champions League Barcelona's season unravelled further in controversial fashion after the holders were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, with Antoine Griezmann's double securing passage to the semi-finals with 2-0 win at the Vicente Calderon. Heading into stoppage time and searching for the goal that would have forced an extra 30 minutes, Barca were incensed not to receive a penalty when Andres Iniesta's shot struck the arm of Atletico captain Gabi just inside the box, with the referee instead awarding a free-kick which Lionel Messi hit over.

Luis Enrique's men had led 2-1 from the first leg but ultimately failed to cope with the intensity of an Atletico side who are also just three points behind them in La Liga and will be buoyed by this scalp as they seek to heap added misery on to their Catalan counterparts domestically.

Barcelona's willingness to sit on that slender first-leg lead led to a cagey and tense first half-hour, but Atletico broke through with 36 minutes on the clock, as Griezmann nodded in to spark wild celebrations.

Dogged Atletico held firm for the remainder of the half and went desperately close to a second soon after the break, but Lucas Hernandez's header was kept out by the crossbar.

Barca soon began to exert some control, keeping Atletico penned back, but Jan Oblak had little trouble keeping Luis Suarez at bay with their best chance just after the hour mark. Atletico were forced to withstand significant pressure during the final stages, but Diego Simeone's men held on in typical fashion and then netted a second on the break as Iniesta's handball allowed Griezmann to convert from the spot with two minutes remaining. Referee Nicola Rizzoli then provoked a furious reaction from Barca with his decision to award only a free-kick for Gabi's handball, and the result means Atletico have knocked Barca out in the quarter-finals of this competition in two of the past three seasons, while they gain further psychological advantage in their quest to chase down Barca's slender lead in the league with just six games to go.

Urged on by a raucous atmosphere at the Vicente Calderon, Atletico began proceedings with great urgency, pouring men forward quickly and in numbers. It took just seven minutes for the hosts to create the first chance and they ultimately let Barca off the hook, as the unmarked Griezmann headed straight at Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Barca's terrifying attack of Messi, Neymar and Suarez were being kept quiet, but the away side did get to grips with Atletico's intense pressing, resulting in the two sides cancelling each other out in midfield for long periods.

Atletico's patience and intensity paid off nine minutes before the break, though, as Griezmann rose to meet Saul Niguez’s delightful cross and sent a fine glancing header past the helpless Ter Stegen. Simeone's men could have added a second just before the interval, but Yannick Ferreira Carrasco was thwarted by Ter Stegen after single-handedly leading a breakaway.

Barca initially struggled to mount a response after the break and Atletico went mightily close to increasing their lead, as Lucas' looping header bounced back off the bar in the 54th minute.

A crucial block from Gabi six minutes later prevented Suarez a simple tap-in, but the occasion marked an improvement from the visitors.

Oblak was their saviour in the 66th minute, as the goalkeeper got himself in the way of Suarez's effort after the Uruguayan expertly turned his compatriot Diego Godin on the edge of the area.

Wave after wave of Barca attacks were halted by the home defence during the final 20 minutes, as the reigning champions continued to be frustrated, with Messi kept particularly quiet. Barca threw everything at Atletico in desperate fashion for the final 10 minutes, but it was the home side who were left jubilant.

Hat-trick hero Ronaldo puts Real through to Semi final

The Portuguese striker levelled the game in the first half with a close-range finish and a header, and later ended the Germans' hopes by squeezing a free-kick through the wallA brilliant hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldosaved Real Madrid's Champions League campaign, as the Spaniards battled back to down Wolfsburg3-0 and progress to the semi-finals.

Madrid appeared to have a sizeable task in front of them having lost the first leg in Germany 2-0 but were rescued in stunning fashion as Ronaldo continued his magnificent goalscoring form in the Champions League.

The former Manchester United forward netted two goals in the space of 90 seconds to bring Madrid level in the tie, before completing his treble and the turnaround with 13 minutes remaining.

Ronaldo halved the aggregate deficit with a composed 15th-minute finish and just one minute and 26 seconds later Madrid were all square as he headed home Toni Kroos' corner.

Wolfsburg did not lie down following that devastating spell and threatened on multiple occasions to turn the tie back in their favour. But Ronaldo refused to be denied and capped a stunning individual performance in fitting fashion with a sublime free-kick that marked his 16th Champions League goal of the season and kept Madrid's hopes of an 11th European crown very much alive.

Madrid unsurprisingly made the more aggressive start to proceedings, Sergio Ramos hitting the top of the crossbar with a header from Kroos' corner.

And just as Wolfsburg appeared to be weathering the early storm Ronaldo struck with a cool close-range finish after Dani Carvajal had found the Portugal forward at the second attempt with a cross from the right.

Vieirinha was forced to turn another Carvajal cross aimed at Ronaldo behind for a corner as Madrid went in search of a second, which arrived from Kroos' subsequent delivery.

Wolfsburg failed to track Ronaldo at the near post and he made no mistake in glancing Kroos' ball into the bottom-right corner to level the tie.

Luiz Gustavo forced Keylor Navas into his first save of the game with a long-range effort before Karim Benzema tested Diego Benaglio at the other end as the contest became more open.

But Wolfsburg's hopes were dealt a significant blow in the 31st minute when Julian Draxler limped off to be replaced by Max Kruse. Despite that setback, the visitors twice went close to regaining the aggregate lead shortly after.

Luiz Gustavo's swerving strike from distance drew a fine acrobatic save from Navas and Ramos produced a vital block to prevent Bruno Henrique from finding the net.

For all their spirit, Wolfsburg almost contributed to their own downfall in the 59th minute when Benaglio had to react quickly to prevent Josuha Guilavogui from turning Luka Modric's cross into his own net. And the visitors were fortunate not to see Ramos complete the comeback as his header from Kroos' corner struck the inside of the post, with Benaglio then showing the presence of mind to trap the ball between his legs before it crossed the line. Bruno Henrique was forced off following a collision with Marcelo - with Daniel Caligiuri coming on in his stead - in another dent to Wolfsburg's cause and soon afterwards they were behind for the first time in the tie. Luiz Gustavo received a yellow for hacking down Modric on the edge of the area, and Ronaldo took full advantage of a perfectly positioned free-kick with a dinked effort through the wall. Benzema and Jese Rodriguez each went close late on but Madrid were not made to pay for those missed chances as Wolfsburg failed to net the away goal that would have spoiled the party for Ronaldo.

Real Sociedad 1-0 Barcelona: Luis Enrique's men slip to shock defeat

The Catalans fell to a second successive defeat following their Clasico loss to Real Madrid at the Anoeta Stadium, with Mikel Oyarzabal's headed goal proving decisive Barcelona are just three points clear of Atletico Madridand four ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga as their miserable form at Anoeta Stadium continued with a 1-0 defeat at Real Sociedadon Saturday, a result that blew the title race wide open.

Having been beaten by Madrid in the Clasico last weekend and seen both their arch rivals and fellow title challengers Atletico win earlier in the day, Barca headed to Basque country needing a positive result.

But instead they slipped to a third game without a win as the Catalan club's wait for a first away win over Sociedad since 2007 continued. Sociedad, who came into the game on the back of a surprise 2-1 win over Sevilla, netted what proved to be the decisive goal in the fifth minute through Mikel Oyarzabal's fine header.

Barca dominated from that point on but, missing the suspended Luis Suarez, could not find a way past the in-form Geronimo Rulli, who pulled off a string of fine saves to frustrate Luis Enrique's men.

Lionel Messi had the best chance to level matters but he was left waiting for his 500th Barca goal as Sociedad held on to secure a repeat of last season's 1-0 win and blow the title race wide open.

Neymar was denied by Sociedad goalkeeper Rulli after just two minutes and Barca were quickly made to rue that missed opportunity as the hosts opened the scoring three minutes later.

Xabi Prieto's excellent delivery from the right was met by Oyarzabal with a superb looping header that left Claudio Bravo with no chance.

Barca eventually recovered their composure and began to take control of the game without creating too many opportunities, although Arda Turan was unfortunate to see his deflected close-range strike kept out by Rulli.

Sociedad started the second half in the same bright manner as they had begun the first but were grateful to Rulli for preserving the single-goal lead as he thwarted substitute Andres Iniesta with a stunning save.

Rulli dived brilliantly to his right to turn a fierce Iniesta drive from outside the area behind with a one-handed save.

Neymar then curled wide from a free-kick as Barca laboured to break down a stubborn Sociedad defence and their frustration will only have grown after Rulli produced more heroics to stop Messi from prodding in a leveller following good work from Gerard Pique.

Messi saw a late header easily saved by Rulli, who then denied Iniesta once more as Sociedad stood firm to condemn Barca to successive league defeats for the first time since November 2014.
