Dino Melaye alleges Remi Tinubu has released N75m to sponsor a protest against him in Abuja

Senator Dino Melaye has alleged that Senator Remi Tinubu has released N75 million to sponsor a protest against him. He made the allegation in a post on his Facebook wall this evening. He wrote; A civil rights movement, Committee for the Defence of Women's Rights, has uncovered a plan by the wife of a former governor of Lagos State and chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to sponsor a protest against Senator Dino Melaye this coming Wednesday in Abuja.

The organisation said she has released N75 million to Lagos State APC Woman Leader, Mrs. Kemi Nelson through one of her sisters simply identified as Funlola. The National President of CDWR, Prof. Taibat Majekodunmi, made the revelation in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja. Already, the protesters have stormed Abuja and have booked for 300 rooms in many Hotels in hotels in Abuja. She said, "We have it on good authority that N75 million has been released by Senator Okuremi Tinubu to Mrs. Kemi Nelson through Mrs. Tinubu's sister called Funlola. The money is to organise a protest in Abuja on Wednesday against the chairman, Denate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dino Melaye, with 1,000 protesters from Lagos. "The protesters have booked for 300 rooms in some in hotels in Abuja. Why did she not organise a protest against the hardship of Nigerian women and widows.

As we speak, Alade market in Ogba area of Lagos has been destroyed and all the women rendered shopless. Oluremi Tinubu did not organise protest about that. "Against the provisions of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kemi Nelson doubles at the State APC Women leader in Lagos and also the zonal women leader of APC in the South West. This will show her greediness and why the Tinubu dynasty has taken over Lagos.

"Women were killed in Kano and Abuja and Mrs. Tinubu is the chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs. She did not organise protest over these killings. Mrs. Tinubu has not protested against the skyrocketed price of tomatoes in the market. In the same vein, kerosine is now over N200 per litre and she didn't organised any protest to that effect. "Instead, she has taken advantage of the prevailing poverty in the land to hire hungry women in the land to partake in an unproductive protest against Dino Melaye.

Women like Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Hajiya Gambosa Sawaba, Sarah Jubril, fought for woman race without attacking any man. Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu should emulate the likes of Margaret Thatcher, Indira Ghandhi, Benazir Bhutto and our own dear Dora Akunyili. "You can imagine what N75 million will do in the lives of widows and hungry Nigerian women. We dare Mrs. Tinubu to go ahead with her planned N75 million protest in Abuja. We will also mobilise Nigerian women against this ostentatious display of wealth while the average Nigerian women wallow in abject poverty."

I remain loyal to APC, says Bukola Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Sarakion Mondayrestated his loyalty to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC). Saraki also reiterated his belief that the President Buhari's government will redeem its electoral promises made during the 2015 general elections.

The Senate President spoke at the 10th Abuja Housing Show where top government officials and prominent stakeholders in the housing sector brainstormed on the theme: “Expanding Access To Affordable Housing In Africa.” Acknowledging the presence of the APC National Organizing Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso who earlier kick-started discussions at the summit, Saraki assured that the APC government is unwaveringly committed to the social welfare of the people while re-affirming his unalloyed loyalty to the party.

"The Senate and the National Assembly as a whole believe very strongly that we must make a difference in the housing sector," he said. The Senate President, reacting to observations that the existing housing laws need respective amendment and repeal, charged the organizers of the Summit to take a further step by forwarding a document of laws requiring amendments to the National Assembly. "I assure you that action will be taken instantaneously," Saraki promised. Saraki asserted that the Senate has commenced the review processes of several laws affecting property rights and access housing in the country. According to him, the review of the National Housing Fund Act is on-going and would be completed before the end of the year.

According to the APC National Organizing Secretary, Senator Izunaso, housing deficit in Nigeria is pegged at 17million housing units. "As at today, only 10 per cent of those who dream to own a house in the country can afford it, as against the 92 per cent house owners in Singapore. The central objective of the Summit, however, is to come up with feasible strategies on how to end the problem of homelessness in Nigeria," Izunaso said. Other personalities at the Summit include the representative of the Speaker of House of Reps, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Hakan Çakıl, TUC President, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama, among other investors.

Dasuki files new suit, demands N15bn compensation & public apology from FG, says he's been in solitary confinement

Detained former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), has dragged the federal government to an Abuja High Court challenging his continued incarceration since December last year.

In the new suit, Dasuki asked the court to order his immediate release from detention either conditionally or un-conditionally.

Dasuki, who claimed that his fundamental right to freedom of liberty and dignity to life had been grossly violated by the federal government with his detention, prayed for an order of the court to compel the federal government to pay him N15 billion as general damages and compensation for his alleged illegal detention in violation of his rights as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

He also prayed the court to compel defendants in the suit to jointly and severally tender a public apology to him to be published in two national dailies for the violation of his rights.

Defendants in the court action are the Department of State Security Service (DSSS), National Security Adviser (NSA), Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Dasuki asked the court to declare that he was entitled to his rights to dignity of human person, personal liberty, fair hearing, freedom of movement, private and family life and to acquire and own properties as enshrined in the 1999 constitution. He also wants the court to declare that his arrest and continuous detention since December 29, 2015 in the custody of the DSSS and NSA by officers of the federal government without allowing him access to his medical personnel, members of his family and without charging him to court within the time prescribed by law is wrongful, unlawful, un-constitutional and a violation of his right granted by the country’s constitution.

Dasuki said upon his release on bail at Kuje prison on December 29, 2015, he was re-arrested by the operatives of the DSS and had since been kept in solitary conferment, thereby impairing his ability to provide for his family.

The affidavit indicated that the concern and apprehension of his family became compounded when president Muhammadu Buhari in his maiden Presidential media chat of December 30, 2015 said that Dasuki will not be released because of the weight of charges against him and that he may likely jump bail. Dasuki claimed that unless the court comes to his rescue by protecting him and order his immediate release, his right to life, human dignity, personal liberty, privacy, family life, freedom of movement and right to own properties already impaired and violated by the defendants will continue to be impaired and put in jeopardy. The case has been assigned to Justice Peter Kekemekun. The court is however on vacation.

I am not afraid of incarceration or death - Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose who is being investigated for allegedly receiving N1.3 billion from the arms deal fraud, says no amount of intimidation and harassment will make him shut his mouth as he is not afraid of incarceration or death. Fayose said this during a rally organized by a newly formed Ekiti State Private Sector Union in Ado Ekiti today July 8th; “They said I collected a sum of N1.3 billion from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki to fund my election. Some even said I collected it through Mr Musiliu Obanikoro. Let me put it on records that I did not know Col Dasuki, and Obanikoro has not come out openly to indict me, because he has not returned from abroad. No act of intimidation and harassment will shut my mouth. I will continue to talk about national issues. Somebody from Ekiti gave President Buhari N1.5b for campaign, but today he is being seen as a saint. When you want to campaign or do marriage , people will give you money and my own can’t be an exemption. Would I now return the remaining money after the campaign? I am not afraid of incarceration or death. APC problem is 2018 and as the God liveth, they are going nowhere. We will stand up and defend our state and the money they said they have gotten through anti-corruption should be spent for Nigerians. "

Reveal: How Fayose’s Man Spread Money Into Accounts

Latest revelations have shown that Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose’s associate Abiodun Agbele wired the sum of N1.35billion into three different accounts to pay for four of the five duplexes the governor allegedly bought in Lagos.

The fifth duplex, which cost about N200million, is located in the federal capital, Abuja. According to detectives, the laundering of the cash was staggered to cover up the details from the prying eyes of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

But the EFCC still uncovered the lodgments in the following accounts: FCMB belonging to Siqnachor (0519693019), First Bank of Nigeria (1000070240) and Zenith Bank (1014016919) of Still Earth Limited. The owner of Still Earth Limited, Oyindamola Adeyemi, has claimed that her company neither secured a contract from Fayose, nor offered him kickback.

The facts on how Fayose, through his detained associate Agbele, paid for the duplexes are now contained in EFCC's official documents. A top source said: “The payments were effected through De-Privateer Limited, which is owned by Agbele. The governor and his associate knew that they were involved in money laundering and they cleverly opted to stagger the funds.

“We have retrieved the list of lodgments made by De-Privateer into three accounts, including FCMB belonging to Siqnachor (0519693019), First Bank of Nigeria (1000070240) and Zenith Bank (1014016919) of Still Earth Limited.

The breakdown of some of the remittances is as follows: First Bank—N40m (29/1/15); N39.5m (30/1/15); N132.5 (30/1/ 15); N3.2m (4/2/15); N980, 000(4/2/15); N200m (17/2/15); N47m (13/2/15); N50m (13/2/15). The lodgments in an account in Zenith Bank (1014016919) include N42.5m (9/4/15); N25m (23/4/15); and N229m (6/3/15). Agbele, also through De-Privateer, paid N200million into the account of Siqnachor Integrated Limited in FCMB (0519693019) on March 9, 2015.

The EFCC source added: “You can see what Fayose did with state funds within the first six months in office. This is just a segment of our ongoing investigation of the governor.

“We are yet to shift focus to other areas where state funds were diverted into personal use or associates’ accounts.” Responding to a question, the source said: “We are going ahead with Friday’s interaction with three more people on the five properties bought by the governor.”

Is it true? Senator Ben Bruce Used The Bank Loan To Acquire A $5m Mansion In US

An investigation by SR has revealed that Senator Ben Murray-Bruce may have illegally diverted the loan he obtained from Union Bank of Nigeria for business to purchase a posh property in Beverly Hills, California in 2007.

Ben Bruce has been in the spotlight lately after the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on June 23, 2016 seized several of his Silverbird media companies for failing to make payments on billions of naira in loans.

The self-proclaimed Commonsense Senator was one of the most vocal senators during the #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira, a movement that criticizes those who needlessly import foreign goods.

He touted his reputation for building businesses in Nigeria to champion the importance of domestic investment in goods.

But several banking sources in Nigeria told SR that the N11billion loan Ben Bruce took out from Union Bank around 2007 was supposed to be used to construct the Abuja Entertainment Center.

According to the sources, instead of using the loan to fund his Nigerian business operations, he diverted it to purchase an opulent property in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles and London.

Los Angeles County Property Assessor’s Office, the Records office, and the Special Investigation unit haveconfirmed to SR that the Nigerian senator from Bayelsa State purchased a property on August 6th, 2007 and remains the owner. The address is 605 North Camden Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

A public records search, also confirmed by municipal employees in Los Angeles County, assessed the value of Senator Ben Bruce’s land at $3.1million. The value of the mansion and other structures at the property was estimated at no less than $795,000.

The senator’s Beverly Hills swanky property has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a swimming pool and is estimated to be at least 2,777 square feet. Assessments of real estate platforms show that the property is worth $5million as of today.

SR said they also obtained a bond receipt document that confirmed Ben Bruce’s ties to the property.

The document also listed Stella Albright as having a connection to the property. A public records search of Mrs. Albright found that she was a board member of a company, Dream Magic Studios LLC, alongside Senator Ben Bruce.

Lawmakers In Abuja Fight Over Jeeps, Constituency Projects

Members of the House of Representatives are still sharply divided over which car to purchase for official use. According to Daily Sun sources at the Executive Session of the House, lawmakers deliberated on different issues. Top on their "selfish agenda" was questions arising on why the leadership of the House settled for the Nigerian made Peugeot 508, rather than the more prestigious Toyota Prado Landcruiser SUV.

Senators bought Prado, Nigerians shouted and nothing happened. So, Reps too want to follow. It was also gathered that lawmakers, many of whom are now in possession of the 2016 budget details, took turns to express grievances over the spread of constituency and zonal projects. Some lawmakers raised objections to Abdulmumin Jibrin’s position as Chairman, Appropriations Committee, demanding that he be removed to salvage the reputation of the House which, they insisted, had been severally damaged by the controversies that surrounded the 2016 budget.

Jibrin, who was not at Wednesday’s plenary, has been accused of allocating projects worth N4 billion to his Bibeji/Kiru Federal Constituency. Only few minutes into the commencement of plenary, Speaker Yakubu Dogara called on the House Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila to move the motion for the House to go to an executive session. An hour and half later, when the House reverted to plenary, Dogara did not speak on what was discussed even as lawmakers displayed conviviality, most of them chatting in clusters and back slapping.

But Daily Sun learnt that the executive session was characterised by complaints as lawmakers took turns to say that they have been shortchanged with regard to the spread of constituency projects. Many lawmakers pointed fingers at principal officers who they said cornered projects that should have been shared to other constituencies in their states and zones. A lawmaker, told Daily Sun that majority of lawmakers weren’t disposed to the purchase of SUVs owing to the reduction of the allocation to the National Assembly from N150 billion in 2014, N120 billion in 2015 and to N115 billion, this year.

“If you look at what has happened in the last three years, I don’t think lawmakers should still be talking about what kind of car we should be given. This year we have only N115 billion as allocation, where do they expect the leadership of the House to get money to buy SUVs?" He said that members were disappointed that the tradition of principal officers influencing allocation of more money for projects in their constituencies and zones to the detriment of others was still the practice. “People are really disappointed that the culture of principal officers taking a lion share of constituency projects, leaving those in their states and even their geo-political zones with almost nothing is still the order of the day." Speaker Dogara and Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin are former PDP men who joined APC. Some lawmakers are said to have insisted that they stop that practice in this era of change.

Photo: Saraki receives amended Gender Equality Opportunity (GEO) Bill

The Gender Equality Opportunity (GEO) Bill which suffered major setback in March this year, has been amended and was passed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, by the sponsor of the bill, Senator Abiodun Olujimi today.

The bill which among other things was designed to address women's freedom of movement, female economic activity, girls' access to education, equal rights for women in marriage, divorce, property/land ownership and inheritance, appropriate measures against gender discrimination in political and public life and prohibitions of violence to women, was rejected by majority of the male senators as they felt the bill if passed will give women more power and this according to them was against the African culture.

Some of the senators even alleged that the bill if passed will turn some women into prostitutes and lesbians. Anyway the bill has been amended. It passed its first reading today and hopefully it would get accelerated hearing and will be passed into law.

In a meeting summoned on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari, the federal government and Niger Delta states have started developing a common and united strategy to deal with the recent resurgent militant attacks on the nation's oil installations.

According to the Senior Special Assistant-Media & Publicity In the Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande,at a meeting held yesterday at the Presidential Villa, and presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, governors from Niger Delta states, three ministers and military service chiefs met behind closed doors to discuss the situation, and forge a common strategy to halt what is considered by both federal and state governments as acts of economic sabotage by the militants.

At the end of the meeting, which lasted over two hours, it was made known that the federal government is proceeding on a collaborative strategy with the governments, communities in the Niger Delta region and other relevant stakeholders towards tackling the situation holistically.

Saraki Again? ₦300m Vanishes in His Bedroom; Police Arrests His Aides & Accountant

The Nigeria police in Ilorin, Kwara State, questioned and then released several domestic aides as well as some members of the security detail assigned to Senate President Bukola Saraki in connection with the mysterious disappearance of N300 million from the senator’s bedroom in Ilorin.

According to SR investigation, the money that went missing at Saraki's home had just been ferried there by the Kwara State government in different foreign exchange denominations. What? SR reports that Saraki called on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to provide the huge cash to enable him provide largesse to his supporters in Ilorin at the start of the Ramadan season. This is not the first time a gargantuan sum of cash connected to Saraki grew wings and disappeared. Last year, agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) attached to the embattled Senate President stole a huge sum of money that the owner of a bureau de change, who is a cousin of former military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, was ferrying to Saraki. Months after their arrest, the DSS agents have yet to be formally charged to court for robbery. A source in the agency told SR that the DSS and Saraki were colluding to cover up the case.

“Senator Saraki does not want the public to start asking questions about the source of the money. And the DSS does not want the role of our agents to become public knowledge,” the source disclosed. Two reliable sources in Ilorin confirmed the latest heist of the illicit cash approved by Governor Ahmed of Kwara State and sent to Saraki’s home. Saraki anointed Ahmed as his successor.

One of our sources claimed that this was the second time in a month that large sums of money disappeared from the Senate President’s Ilorin mansion. Just imagine how government money is flying.

The All Progressives Congress has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party of sponsoring the new terror group, Niger Delta Avengers, to launch series of attacks against oil pipelines in Nige Delta.

The South South zone of the APC, in a meeting held in Benin City, Edo State, on Friday, condemned the act of sabotage with regards to the renewed attacks in the region, and said the main objective of the Niger Delta Avengers was to frustrate and derail President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The APC said: “The zone is cocksure that the nefarious and ruinous activities of the ‘Avengers’ are not driven by any patriotic and altruistic impulse.” In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the party said, “We have compelling reasons to strongly assert that these activities are sponsored and instigated by the opposition PDP to derail and frustrate the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari because of its determination to fight against corruption, stabilise and put our country on the path of sustainable development.
