Juventus Complete sign Higuain for €90m from Napoli

The Serie A champions have completed the signing of the Argentine forward and will pay the Partenopei €90 million for last season's top scorer in the Italian league Juventus have completed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli for €90 million, it has been confirmed.

The Argentine striker has long been linked with a move to the Serie A champions, having already agreed personal terms earlier in July.

The 28-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with Massimiliano Allegri's side, which will see him pocket €7m per year.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis had told Juve director Giuseppe Marotta that they would have to match Higuain's release clause to sign the forward, which was believed to be €94.7m, but that clause was only for the player himself to buy his way out of the club. The clause for any potential buyers was set at €90m.

Juve have matched that fee, which will be paid in two instalments of €45m, and have sent the contracts to the Lega Serie A, who have listed Higuain as a Bianconeri player.

Higuain, who scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games last season, joined Napoli in 2013 and was tied to the club until June 2018. He follows the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Marko Pjaca, Medhi Benatia and Dani Alves in joining the Turin side this summer.

Paul Le Guen rejects Super Eagles job

French Coach Paul Le Guen has reportedly turned down an offer by the Nigeria National Football to coach the Super Eagles. NFF Technical Committee had on Monday named the former PSG Coach as the Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles, albeit subject to approval from the Executive committee. But reports from Le Guen’s home country (France) sparked up by French journalist, Herve Penot, who writes for L’Equipe, suggests the 52yrs old failed to agree on knotty issues with the NFF.

“Paul le Guen will not go to Nigeria. Conditions not met to be coach. Nothing to do with the selection today,” a tweet from the official handle of Penot read. According to PT, one of the knotty issues Le Guen failed to agree on with the NFF was that he would prefer to operate from France while the NFF wants him permanently stationed in Nigeria. On Monday, the NFF committee confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Le Guen as new Technical Adviser of the Senior National Team, Super Eagles.

NFF Technical Committee also said Le Guen will be assisted by Nigerian Salisu Yusuf, who takes the role of Chief Coach. But it appears that may not happen. Since the exit of Sunday Oliseh in February, Super Eagles has been without a substantive coach.

Champion: Portugal wins Euro 2016 after "Eder" Super strike Gun Down France

This is what champions are made of! Portugal, from being best losers have fought to achieve European glory after an Eder goal ensured Portugal beat host Nation, France to win Euro 2016.

Portugal started the match with same 4-4-2 formation, with C. Ronaldo and Nani upfront but it wasn't long until Ronaldo was stretched off after sustaining a serious knee injury.

France in the first half were the better team and played more expansive football with Sissokho the main star in the first half but to Portugal's credit and Rui Patricio's heroics, ended the first half 0-0. Portugal started the second half with Nani as captain and Quaresma replacing the already injured Ronaldo and grew in confidence but efforts from both sets of teams was not enough as both teams ended the second half still level 0-0.

Pulsating moments as Extra time started. Ronaldo, showed so much exemplary leadership qualities and came to the touch line to spur and inspire his teammates to apply more pressure on the French defence. By this time Portugal was beginning to feel that they had the game for the taking and scored through substitute Eder in the second half of extra time. IT'S OVER! Portugal beat France 1-0 and are the champions of Europe! Such contrasting emotions from the two sides. Tears from both, but for many different reasons. Cristiano Ronaldo's sadness has turned to joy, while many of the France players look inconsolable as they sit dejected on the turf. Ronaldo has now entered into Football immortality.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Breaks Manchester United Power Record During Medical, Becomes “Most Powerful Player

Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved what a powerful presence he will be in Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd squad during his Carrington medical.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not kicked a ball in a Manchester United shirt but has already broken one record.

United tweeted the indomitable 34-year-old broke the club’s power records in tests during his medical at their Carrington training complex on Friday.

Ibrahimovic stands at 6ft 4ins and weighs 83 kilograms – just over 13 stone – which is more than the sculpted former United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

One possible reason why Jose Mourinho settled on Ibrahimovic as the striker to spearhead his attack is the United squad has been lightweight for a number of years.

Marouane Fellaini arrived to beef up the squad in 2013 but has struggled to endear himself to United fans. Marcos Rojo’s weight is listed as 80kg, while bulky right-back Antonio Valencia, captain Wayne Rooney and winger Memphis all weigh 78kg.

United fans have speculated Ibrahimovic could inherit Juan Mata ‘s No.8 shirt for the forthcoming campaign after watching an MUTV video posted during the Swede’s Friday unveiling.

As Ibrahimovic posed with the United shirt, the suggestion is the 34-year-old asked a United staff member : “What’s my number?” He was then supposedly informed of it and added: “Eight? That’s cool.” Ibrahimovic wore eight at Internazionale, where he played under Jose Mourinho for a season. During his career, he has also worn nine at Ajax and Barcelona, 11 for AC Milan and 10 for Paris Saint-Germain.

France trash iceland 5-2 And make it to Semi-Final to face Germany

France have finally turned up at their own party. During the first four matches of their home competition, Didier Deschamps’ side looked a muddled, unconvincing outfit wracked with nerves.

The failure to convince against Romania, Albania, Switzerland and Republic of Ireland raised serious questions over their tag as pre-tournament favourites’. However, their magnificent 5-2 trouncing of Iceland in Paris shows just why they were so highly favoured – and their next opponents Germany will not like what they saw.

Cynics will argue that their victims were ‘only’ Iceland, but just ask the likes of Portugal, Austria and England how easy the side from the tiny island in the North Atlantic are to beat. Their opponents came into the fixture unbeaten in the Euros and under no pressure given that they had already drastically exceeded expectations by dumping out the Three Lions in the previous knockout round. Iceland fell behind early in that match due to a Wayne Rooney penalty, but Roy Hodgson’s men were instantly pegged back. France moved into a similarly prompt advantage, Olivier Giroud firing into the net following a pinpoint direct pass from Blaise Matuidi, but instead of allowing their concentration to wander, they successfully sought a second. Just as the opener was simple, so was the follow up; Antoine Griezmann’s corner was headed into the net by Paul Pogba, who achieved a hang time on his leap that NBA superstar LeBron James would have been proud of.

Portugal Make it to Semi-fina after Beats Poland 5-3 On Penalties

Portugal saw off Poland on penalties in Marseille on Thursday to reach the semifinals of Euro 2016.

Poland’s Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring after just a couple of minutes, only for Renato Sanches to peg them back later in the first half.

Cristiano Ronaldo walks up to take the first penalty Portugal had the better of the play from thereon, though failed to take their chances and relied on a shootout to ensure their place in the final four.

Portugal’s semi-final opponent will be either Wales or Belgium. Remarkably, Portugal have reached the last four without winning a game in normal time following three draws in a group in which they finished third and an extra-time win over Croatia in the last 16.

No side has ever got this far in a European Championship without winning a match inside 90 minutes. Portugal have also only led a match for 22 minutes during the whole tournament, while Poland have not trailed for a single minute.

However, for a second dour and conservative knockout game running, Fernando Santos’ side did what was required when it mattered.

Mikel set to leave Chelsea unless Conte offers him first team football

The Nigeria international has spoken to the inbound Blues boss but is yet to receive assurances about his playing time ahead of the new season, Goal understands John Obi Mikel could be set to leave Chelsea this summer in pursuit of regular first-team football,Goal understands.

The midfielder, who has been with the Blues since 2006, has just one-year remaining on his current deal and is yet to receive assurances about his playing time ahead of the new season.

Goal understands Mikel has spoken to inbound Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and is prepared to hold off a move away until he holds further discussions with the manager when Italy's Euro 2016 campaign ends.

However, Mikel - who would be keen to stay at Chelsea - is considering alternative options in case Conte does not offer him what he wants.

Chelsea have a policy of only offering one-year extensions to players over 30 which means it is in the 29-year-old's interest to renew his contract this summer to secure a longer deal.

Mikel has previously spoken about his future after Nigeria played Egypt back in March and made it clear that he does not want to sit on the bench.

“I have to play because one thing I don’t want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before,” Mikel told Goal.

“Wherever it is I just want to play. When this season ends we will definitely sort out the contracts.”

The Super Eagles midfielder could also miss the start of Chelsea's season after being in a provisional 35 man squad for the Olympic Games as one of Nigeria's over 23 players.

Mikel is Chelsea's second longest-serving player after John Terry and - like many of his team-mates - he suffered under Jose Mourinho's management last season before Guus Hiddink’s temporary leadership where he flourished, playing in 24 out of 28 games under the Dutchman.

Despite not yet being formally in charge at the club, Conte has had his say over renewing Terry's contract and he has also issued a transfer wishlist to the Chelsea hierarchy which includes Roma's Radja Nainggolan.
