Manchester City rising star Kelechi Iheanacho could be an option for Manuel Pellegrini to replace injured Samir Nasri in the Champions League squad that will play in the last 16 phase. Goal Reports.
The Frenchman has been sidelined for another three months, with an unspecified injury that has kept him out since August.
Kelechi was left out of the 25-man squad for the group stages, as he was the odd man out as Manuel Pellegrini has 18 overseas players and only room for 17 in the squad quota.
Since that decision was taken in late August, Nasri has been hit by injury problems and still faces a lengthy lay-off.
With UEFA rules allowing clubs to adjust their squads during the winter transfer window, the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup MVP is a prospect to be included with Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony both having injury problems recently.
Iheanacho, who scored the winner for City in last seasons FA Cup Youth final, has impressed spectators and Citys management team with two goals in eight appearances, but Pellegrini is keen to protect him from too much exposure at an early stage, a move which has seen him play regularly as a late substitute.
