Photo: Barack Obama sings &wishes daughter Malia a happy birthday alongside Kendrick Lamar

U.S president Barack Obama wished his first daughter Malia a happy 18th birthday on Monday, 4th of July, the same day America celebrated its independence. Obama, flanked by rapper Kendrick Lamar, belted out a croaky version of happy birthday song to his daughter, while the crowd at the annual Fourth of July party at the White House cheered on. Malia, who will begin her studies at Harvard in 2017 after graduating from high school in June, embraced Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae on stage after her father sang Happy Birthday to her. 'Because it's a job of fathers to embarrass their daughters, I've got one last job,' Obama joked as the audience began to applaud. 'It just so happens we celebrate our country's birthday on the same day as my oldest daughter's birthday, so just a quick Happy Birthday for Malia,' Obama added before breaking into song. Zlatan Ibrahimovic Breaks Manchester United Power Record During Medical, Becomes “Most Powerful Player

Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved what a powerful presence he will be in Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd squad during his Carrington medical.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not kicked a ball in a Manchester United shirt but has already broken one record.

United tweeted the indomitable 34-year-old broke the club’s power records in tests during his medical at their Carrington training complex on Friday.

Ibrahimovic stands at 6ft 4ins and weighs 83 kilograms – just over 13 stone – which is more than the sculpted former United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

One possible reason why Jose Mourinho settled on Ibrahimovic as the striker to spearhead his attack is the United squad has been lightweight for a number of years.

Marouane Fellaini arrived to beef up the squad in 2013 but has struggled to endear himself to United fans. Marcos Rojo’s weight is listed as 80kg, while bulky right-back Antonio Valencia, captain Wayne Rooney and winger Memphis all weigh 78kg.

United fans have speculated Ibrahimovic could inherit Juan Mata ‘s No.8 shirt for the forthcoming campaign after watching an MUTV video posted during the Swede’s Friday unveiling.

As Ibrahimovic posed with the United shirt, the suggestion is the 34-year-old asked a United staff member : “What’s my number?” He was then supposedly informed of it and added: “Eight? That’s cool.” Ibrahimovic wore eight at Internazionale, where he played under Jose Mourinho for a season. During his career, he has also worn nine at Ajax and Barcelona, 11 for AC Milan and 10 for Paris Saint-Germain.

A. CONVENTIONAL INSTITUTIONS (Universities and Colleges of Education) Sciences (60) : Arts/Social Sciences (40)

B. SPECIALIZED UNIVERSITIES – Sciences, Technology, Agriculture, etc (Not less than 80%) – Others (Not more than 20%)

C. POLYTECHNICS, COLLEGES OF TECHNOLOGY, etc

– Science/Technology Related (70) : Arts Related (30) UTME/DIRECT ENTRY RATIO: 9 : 1 That is:

– 90% for UTME – 10% for DE ISSUES TO NOTE – The list of candidates that have scored above the minimum cut-off mark, and are NOT admitted may be forwarded to other institutions that need them for consideration. Especially their Second (2nd) Choice institutions of preferences.

Assess your admission chance Assess your admission chance The rules: 1. Screening of candidates shall be for those offered Provisional AdmissionsONLY.

2. No written examination to be conducted.

3. Verification of Course Requirements (O levels or A levels).

4. Verification of valid JAMB results by checking i.Online Result Slip ii.Printout iii.Provisional Admission Letter iv.Photo Album v.Check list vi.Biometrics vii. Before a candidate can seat be considered for screening, he/she must have been given provisional admission by Jamb. viii. Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria. The point system: This is the most critical part of the process. Jamb’s provisional admission no longer makes much sense this year, your points tally will decide your faith.

The points are evenly spread out between your O’level and Jamb results to provide a level playing field for all. In the first case, any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10 points, the exam could be NECO, WAEC, GCE etc, but any candidate who has 2 sittings only gets 3 points. So this means that aspirants with only one result are at an advantage but only just.

The next point grades fall into the O’level grades. Each grades has it’s equivalent point, A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better your grades the better your chances.

The next point is the UTME scores. Each score range has its equivalent point which can be summarized thus, 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. Each categories contains 5 Jamb results per point added, for example a candidate with 180-185 gets 20points, a candidate with 186-190 gets 21 points etc.

Points system for DE will be released soon. – It then comes down to the fact that fees will still be charged for screening, it depends on the school as well.

– Catchment and ELDS will still be used!

Post-UTME: Nans demands refund for admission seekers

The National Association of Nigerian Students has asked tertiary institutions which have collected fees for post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination test from admission seekers to refund the applicants.

The Deputy Coordinator of NANS in the South-West, Mr. Saheed Afolabi, said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Saturday.

The association said students were in support of the decision by the Federal Government to scrap post-UTME, saying institutions which have gone ahead to conduct the test after the order of the government should refund the applicants.

The NANS leader stated that students would storm any recalcitrant institution and ensure the fees were refunded by force. He said, “We thank the Federal Ministry of Education and the Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, for taking the bold step by canceling post-UTME.

Many tertiary institutions have turned the poor students and their parents into a source of making money. “They know they have space for 1,500 students but they would collect money from 20,000 admission seekers to make money, which they eventually embezzled.

But thank God this has been stopped. “However, there are still some institutions which have gone ahead to collect money from admission seekers; these ones should pay the students back their money, otherwise we will mobilise students to such schools and force them to make refund.
