Juventus Complete sign Higuain for €90m from Napoli

The Serie A champions have completed the signing of the Argentine forward and will pay the Partenopei €90 million for last season's top scorer in the Italian league Juventus have completed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli for €90 million, it has been confirmed.

The Argentine striker has long been linked with a move to the Serie A champions, having already agreed personal terms earlier in July.

The 28-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with Massimiliano Allegri's side, which will see him pocket €7m per year.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis had told Juve director Giuseppe Marotta that they would have to match Higuain's release clause to sign the forward, which was believed to be €94.7m, but that clause was only for the player himself to buy his way out of the club. The clause for any potential buyers was set at €90m.

Juve have matched that fee, which will be paid in two instalments of €45m, and have sent the contracts to the Lega Serie A, who have listed Higuain as a Bianconeri player.

Higuain, who scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games last season, joined Napoli in 2013 and was tied to the club until June 2018. He follows the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Marko Pjaca, Medhi Benatia and Dani Alves in joining the Turin side this summer.

Paul Le Guen rejects Super Eagles job

French Coach Paul Le Guen has reportedly turned down an offer by the Nigeria National Football to coach the Super Eagles. NFF Technical Committee had on Monday named the former PSG Coach as the Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles, albeit subject to approval from the Executive committee. But reports from Le Guen’s home country (France) sparked up by French journalist, Herve Penot, who writes for L’Equipe, suggests the 52yrs old failed to agree on knotty issues with the NFF.

“Paul le Guen will not go to Nigeria. Conditions not met to be coach. Nothing to do with the selection today,” a tweet from the official handle of Penot read. According to PT, one of the knotty issues Le Guen failed to agree on with the NFF was that he would prefer to operate from France while the NFF wants him permanently stationed in Nigeria. On Monday, the NFF committee confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Le Guen as new Technical Adviser of the Senior National Team, Super Eagles.

NFF Technical Committee also said Le Guen will be assisted by Nigerian Salisu Yusuf, who takes the role of Chief Coach. But it appears that may not happen. Since the exit of Sunday Oliseh in February, Super Eagles has been without a substantive coach.

Donald Trump's campaign manager blames Hillary Clinton for Melania's plagiarism accusations

Donald Trump’s campaign manager has blamed Hillary Clinton for the backlash to Melania Trump’s convention speech, which had strong similarities with Michelle Obama’s convention address 8 years ago.

In interviews and at a press conference today, Paul Manafort, Donald Trump's campaign manager defended Melania Trump and accused Clinton of making it an issue.

"There’s a political tint to this whole issue," Manafort said. "We’ve noted that the Clinton camp was the first to get it out there and trying to say that there was something untoward about the speech that Melania Trump gave. It’s just another example, as far as we’re concerned, that when Hillary Clinton is threatened by a female, the first thing she does is try to destroy the person." He also made the same argument while speaking to CNN. "This is once again an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, how she seeks out to demean her and take her down," he said, adding that the speech included common words and values and dismissed accusations of plagiarism as "just really absurd." "We don’t believe there’s anything in that speech that doesn’t reflect her thinking.

We’re comfortable that the words that she used are words that are personal to her"

Kemi Nelson denies collecting N75m from Remi Tinubu to organize a protest against Dino Melaye

Yesterday Dino Melaye shared a post on his Facebook wall alleging that his colleague, Remi Tinubu had given Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kemi Nelson N75million to organise a rally against him. Reacting to the report, Kemi Nelson said it was false. In a statement she personally signed and released today July 19th, Nelson said she doesn't need to collect money from Remi Tinubu or her husband, Bola Tinubu whom are her mentors, to stage a protest.

She however confirmed that she and a group of women will be staging a protest in Abuja tomorrow against Dino Melaye “We are moving to Abuja in full force to be part of this protest against Melaye for harassing a woman of substance like Senator Tinubu, whose family paid a huge price for our democracy. Our democracy is still nascent and we must do everything within our power to protect it. We should not allow people like Melaye to rubbish what took years and cost us several lives to achieve.

What Melaye did was not just against Senator Tinubu, but against all women and against our democracy. We will not behave like Nero, who sleeps, while Rome burns. All right thinking members of the society must rise against this oppression and an open insult against women by a man that has done little or nothing for our democracy. We cannot pretend that nothing is happening, when such a sacrilege is being committed in our country. With what Melaye has done, he has been demystified and he should be recalled by his people without any delay. We cannot keep quiet at this material time. As Professor Wole Soyinka would say; ‘the man dies, who keeps silent in the face of tyranny”the statement read
