Fayose in serious problem as EFCC set to seize his N1.35bn properties

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced moves to seize some properties linked to the embattled Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.

According to the EFCC, houses to be seized are four duplexes on Victoria Island in Lagos State and one located at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.

A reliable source revealed that the houses were allegedly purchased with looted money. The source told Punch that the EFCC could invoke the Assets Forfeiture clause to seize the properties in line with sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13 (1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004.

The EFCC is currently investigating Fayose for allegedly receiving N1.219bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser through a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who is currently in school in the United States of America.

After freezing Fayose’s Zenith Bank accounts, the anti-graft agency alleged that it had uncovered details of how the governor had been receiving kickbacks from state contractors.

The source added, “Investigations showed that the properties were bought with bribes from Ekiti State contractors. Some of the properties were not bought in Fayose’s name but through proxies. So, we will seize all the properties by God’s grace.”

The EFCC had, in a 10-paragraph counter-affidavit deposed to by Tosin Owobo, accused Fayose of using the proceeds of crime to purchase properties.

The affidavit reads in part, “Apart from fraudulently retaining the sum of N1,219,490,000 being part of the N4,745,000,000 stolen from the treasury of the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser, the applicant (Fayose) has also received gratification in form of kickbacks from various contractors with the Ekiti State Government such as Samchese Nigeria Limited, Tender Branch Concept Nig. Limited, Hoff Concept Limited and Calibre Consulting Limited.

“The applicant (Fayose) received these kickbacks and gratification through Still Earth Limited and Signachorr Nigeria Limited. In turn the applicant (Fayose) instructed the Still Earth Limited and Signachoor Nigeria Limited to use the funds to acquire properties for him.

“In complying with the applicant’s instruction, Still Earth Limited and Signachoor Nigeria Limited acquired properties on behalf of the applicant (Fayose) in the name of a company, known as J.J. Technical Services Limited, belonging to the applicant (Fayose) and his wife (Feyisetan).

“That the applicant (Fayose) also used the name of one Mrs. Moji Ladeji (the applicant’s sister) to acquire a property situated at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, from the proceeds of the alleged offences of receiving gratification and kickbacks.”

What Again Militants Attack Lagos, Shoot and Loot Properties

Fatoki community in the Egan, Igando area of Lagos, has been deserted, after about 100 gunmen attacked the area in a three-day daring onslaught. During the siege, the gunmen, suspected to be militants, shot three residents and looted shops and homes in the community.

Aside carting away stuffs, including herbs, they stole generators, televisions, laptops and refrigerators. It was learnt that the militants entered into the community through the waterways.

According to Punch, the community was bordered by water, which made it susceptible to attacks from the dreaded militants who lived in the surrounding creeks. During a visit to the community on Thursday, four families were observed locking their houses and hurrying out of the area with their loads.

One of them, a trader, who was still in shock, declined comment. A resident explained that the trader had been robbed two times in the three-day siege. The resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the community had been peaceful until two months ago. His words: “A man had run out of the creek in broad daylight, naked and scared. He was stopped by our security men. We thought he was mad, but upon interrogation, he said he was kidnapped by the militants and they had just released him. We called his relatives and they confirmed his story.

“Three days ago, they stormed the community in the morning, shooting at the junction. They injured three people and looted shops.” Another resident told Punch that the militants promised to return the day after to continue the attack. He said, “Those people returned on Tuesday around 12 noon. Some of them wore red masks. They spoke English and a few even spoke Yoruba. They ordered everyone to lie down. They took away my money and carried away my neighbour’s generator.

“They attacked a disable cobbler on the road and took away his money. A man, who was washing his car, was shot. They collected his three phones and N35,000.” A woman, who claimed to have also been attacked, said she was not around when the robbers struck the first two days.

“I was in my room with my family on Wednesday evening. We were seeing a movie around 9pm when I saw four of them enter my room with guns. They ransacked my house and took away my phones and other valuables. They took a huge sum of money I wanted to use for business. I am bankrupt,” she said. The robbers carted away plasma Televisions, laptops and mobile phones. They also killed livestocks. A trader, who asked not to be named, said the men broke into her shop and stole fruit juice and herbs. “They carried my refrigerator along with them and put everything on the boat they brought for the operation,” the woman added. A resident and community leader lamented that although the Wednesday operation lasted for about two hours, Nigeria police didn’t show up until the robbers were gone.

“And when they (Police) came, they only patrolled the entrance to the community; they didn’t get to the crisis spot,” he added. Police PRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the attack, saying two suspects had already been arrested.

Cultists Kill 11 Persons In Ogun To Mark Anniversary

No fewer than 11 persons have been killed by suspected cult members in Igode and Fakale communities in the Sagamu area of Ogun State. Four persons were also injured while houses and cars were vandalised in the crazy attack that lasted for about 10 hours.

It was learnt that the hoodlums, said to be Aye Confraternity members, had gone on the rampage at about 11am on Wednesday while commemorating their anniversary tagged 7/7.

The grand finale of the anniversary was reportedly held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Emuren, a neighbouring community.

It was gathered that the hoodlums, numbering about 25 on motorcycles, came from Emuren, wielding guns and cutlasses.

Their targets were said to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, a rival cult. The bandits, who reportedly wore masks, shot dead three welders at a junction bordering Emuren and Igode.

The welders were said to be returning from a work site on a motorcycle. The rampaging cultists reportedly proceeded to the Fakale community, where they opened fire on a crowd watching a football match in a viewing centre, killing seven persons.

It was learnt that one of the deceased, identified simply as Dare, was a member of the Oodua People’s Congress.

Others were identified as Ibukun, Ismaila, Sunday, and a steel rod seller, Dare Olakanmi. Three of them were said to have been buried.

However, the police had yet to remove the remains of the three welders as of 12pm on Thursday. Four others, who were injured, were said to have been taken to a hospital in Sagamu. When Punch visited the communities on Thursday, it observed that palpable fear had enveloped them.

Many residents were said to have fled while commercial activities had been paralysed as shops were shut. 10 policemen were spotted at a junction in Fakale. The Coordinator of the OPC in the community, Wole Oladunjo, said, “The fight was between Eiye and Aye confraternities. The Aye members are based in Emuren. The OPC had nothing to do with the fight. But surprisingly, they (Aye members) came here on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically. They killed seven persons in a viewing centre.

“One of the deceased was our member. The others killed were not Eiye members. They were hard working youths. Four persons are still in the hospital receiving treatment. The police picked four corpses and three of them have been buried.

“The policemen, who came that evening, were blaring their sirens from afar and this gave those boys the chance to escape.” An OPC member, who identified himself as Ajibola Defence, told Punch that the hoodlums inscribed 7/7 on those killed and on a refrigerator they destroyed inside a shop.

Secretary of the OPC in the community, Idris Lawal, vowed that his members would avenge the killings, adding that the victims were innocent residents. Baale of Fakale, Chief Ganiyu Bisiriyu, lamented the security situation in Ogun State and urged government to ensure the protection of lives and property. The Igode community head, Chief Rafiu Disu, said the bandits also vandalised two houses and a car.

Two rams belonging to one Olalekan Oyenuga were reportedly killed by the hoodlums. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killings, saying that the police had restored calm to the area and on the trail of the suspects.”

Carla Bruni, 48, who is wife to former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, 61, was asked what her reaction will be if her husband were to be unfaithful. Monsieur Nicolas could be in danger of losing his ears if he doesn't listen to his wife. The former first lady jokingly said: 'I could do extreme gestures, like cut his throat or his ears when he's asleep for example.

'I think you should avoid to cheat if you can, it's too dangerous. It's a road to a break up. 'Also, fidelity, this is a sine qua non (essential) condition for a wedding, I guess. Why cheat and lie whereas you have the possibility to choose your life, get married or not, have kids or not.' Bruni who made a name for herself as a model and singer married Sarkozy in 2008, months after he split from his second wife, Cecilia. This unffair oo
