Naira Down to #357 per 1$

The Naira on Monday weakened further against the dollar at the parallel market, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The currency exchanged at N357 for a dollar as against N350 it traded on Friday.

However, the naira maintained stability with the Pounds Sterling and Euro, trading at N505 and N397 to each of them, respectively.

Meanwhile, pending the release of modalities for the operation of the proposed flexible exchange rate, the official rate remained at N197 to a dollar.

Traders at the market decried the delay in the release of modalities as proposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

They expressed optimism that a flexible exchange rate would rejuvenate the market.

Good News!!! Barcelona Star, Lionel Messi Triumphs In Court

Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi has won his court case in Spain in a libel suit he filed against a journalist that wrote an article against him in Spain.

According to ESPN ,reports from Spain say that Messi has been awarded nearly €65,000 in damages in a libel action and he has donated the money to charity.

The case was taken after a Madrid-based journalist, Alfonso Ussia, wrote an article in La Razon after Messi’s Argentina lost to Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.

Ussia had criticised Messi’s form and made reference to the hormone treatment the forward received as a youngster by describing him as “Nandrolono.” The Audiencia Provincial de Barcelona court found that the article went outside the bounds of an opinion piece and ruled that La Razon, its editor Francisco Marhuenda and Ussia must pay €64,590.79 to the player. The money is to be donated to the charity Doctors without Borders.

The judgment said the views expressed in the article are “unnecessary and impertinent for the exposition of the ideas or opinions that the journalist attempts to transmit in the article, and are objectively insulting and offensive bearing in mind the dimension of the player’s public image and the pluralism, tolerance and open spirit that should reign in a modern society.” Messi left his home city of Rosario to join Barcelona aged 13 as the Catalan club were prepared to pay for the $900-a-month hormone treatment he needed to grow sufficiently to become a professional player.

This treatment did not breach any regulations and the 28-year-old has never failed a doping test over the course of his career.

Akogun further stated that the university is investigating the matter and will ensure that the lecturer is duly punished if found guilty of the allegations against him. In his words, “The university frowns against s*xual harassment or any other harassment at that. The university is making necessary investigation and once we are done, the culprit will be brought to book.” The sub-dean of school’s student affairs, Dr. Yussuf, said the case was reported to the Students’ Support Centre shortly after the Easter break in April. [Video] Lil’ Kesh Cries Out Over Greedy Music Industry

”Shoki”crooner and YAGI CEO, Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lil Kesh has lamented that the Nigerian music industry is full of unhelpful people.

The singer, who was formerly signed to YBNL, revealed that the music industry is filled with greedy people that are not ready to help anybody, rather they are all searching for their own gains.

He said:-”The basic truth is in this industry, nobody is here to help u, everybody is looking for their own selfish gains, nobody wanst to grow an artiste.

Nobody sees an upcoming star and says ‘’oh i like this boy let me invest in him and see if i can make the world a better place.’’ They have more advantages to it than the artiste so at the end, they give crappy contract and crappy percentage. The truth is nobody is out there to help you.” The star also talked about not receiving the Headies’ Next Rated Award which caused a huge rift between his then label YBNL and Don Jazzy’s Mavins.

He however claimed he is already over it and does not believe in award committees as politics is a strong vice affecting most of the award committees in Nigeria.
